How much is the difference between UCLA and UCSB

Hi! I am a 2ed year eco&accounting student at UCSB and I am struggling if I should transfer to UCLA for Business Economic major. For sure UCLA is a prestigious university but how much it better than UCSB (for the accounting program: professor, network, recruiting opportunities)?
I don’t know if it worth me to transfer, as I could get my major and my minor in statistics done in 1 and half year, but I will need at least 2 years to complete my major if I transfer to UCLA. Also, I got 4.0 GPA at UCSB but I am not sure if I could still keep it at UCLA…
Please give me some advices! any suggestions will be soooo appreciated.

PS: I want to work in Big 4 and get CPA after graduation.

My $.02 - as a 25 year CPA in So Cal (did not go to a UC): UCSB students with good grades should have no trouble getting a Big 4 job. A UCSB degree should serve you almost as well as a UCLA degree.

I’d probably stay put, your grades are excellent and you can get out faster.

Perhaps go talk to career services and the student accounting association and get an understanding of Big 4 placement from UCSB over the last couple years.

Good luck!

^^^ FWIW, I was leaning the same way but didn’t feel I had enough info about accounting.

I don’t know much about accounting either, but transferring for prestige can be painfully obvious to some potential employers and likely also to the Undergraduate Admissions team at UCLA. UCSB is a great school. As long as you’re doing well there (and you are!), I don’t see how transferring would help you out much.

If you’re struggling at UCSB, I doubt that you’ll be any better at UCLA.

@Carahaah How do you like the major? I’m considering transferring to UCSB for Econ and Accounting. I don’t dislike Econ but don’t love it either, but I love accounting. How was Econ 10A for you?

Have you looked at the Technology Management Program undergrad certificate to see if that would interest you and be a good addition to your existing UCSB degree plan?

@chaseguy750 Eco and Accounting major do not require much Economics classes, so I think you’ll be fine.
10A is the toughest class before you get into the major. However, people usually get a grade above B, as long as you go to every sections and join group tutoring.

@Ynotgo it is a great idea, thank you!

Yeah, I agree you should stay at UCSB unless there are specific reasons UCLA would benefit you apart from its name. Although, if you are unhappy at UCSB, I think that’s good enough reason to transfer.
