I see that youve also asked this question quite a bit. Honestly if he cant retake for higher i would send both. Colleges look for reasons to accept you not deny. If they see your math is low on one test, being able to say oh but he did much better on the other test will help his chances.

He wants to study electrical engineering… His two top schools are Villanova (NROTC) and the Naval Academy. Please keep in mind he is still a Jr and knows this is a long road. That being said he has already had me sign him up for the May SAT. He asked about taking the ACT again. I’ll pay for what ever he wants. He has recently self prepared since taking his 1st. SAT and if the practice is any indication of how he is doing his practice scores are M - 680 to 710 & R - 600 to 640.

He set a goal for 700 in both areas; however, I have no clue if that is realistic. He did nothing for prep work before taking the SAT & ACT. He wanted to go in cold just to find out where he is on his own.

He is now signed up for an SAT prep study group which only has 6 people. The program meets once a week for 8 weeks. He did not want a one on one, he said he would do better with others.

He has all the other tools that a college is looking for, it’s all about the SAT & ACT at this point. He did say that if applying undecided is better than applying engineering he would do that and then prove himself. I’m just digging to get any info I can to give him guidance.

Well Villanova i would recommend applying to the college which holds the major you want. It is hard to transfer among colleges within nova since acceptance into arts and sciences is easier than engineering. If his gpa and extra curriculars are good then he should aim for around 1350 sat out of 1600 since nova does not count the writing. Act i would try to break 30/31. Those are just some ideas of what to aim for due to the college of engineering being a bit harder to get into than CAS
