How much negative impact will steadily dropping SAT scores have on my application?

It’s unfortunate that my SAT score decreases each time due to poor preparations and changes in mindset. I scored 1510 in May, 1490 in June, and 1460 in October. Although most schools support the “Score Choice” option on College Board, some of my favorite schools don’t. Every university in the UC system requires applicants to submit all scores, so do I still have a chance to be admitted when they can see me self-derogating? Will they think of me as a student of 1510, 1490, 1460, or worse? Will these scores be acceptable if I apply to colleges with lower requirements? Say, 1350 for UC Davis and 1380 for UC Santa Barbara. Should I also submit my ACT score, which is a mere 32, for a situation like this? Please help me. I’m really disappointed. Thanks :frowning:

A mere 32 is an excellent ACT score. Your 1510 is marginally better. Submit all your scores for schools that require. For schools that don’t, I would submit the 1510. You surely realize you are still up near the 98th percentile or so? And please stop with the tests. A lot of research says that for students who already score high, continuing to take the test can backfire.

The difference between a 1460 and a 1510 on a percentile basis is what, half a percent? Not statistically meanigful IMO. I really doubt it will make a difference.

Agreed.

The vast vast majority of schools will use your highest scores even if they require you to send all of them.

The UC Admissions website says “We require all scores and will use the highest scores from a single administration.” They will use your 1510.

Stop testing. Your test scores are great.
