Hi,
I'm applying to several small, highly selective liberal arts schools for sophmore transfer. The deadline was April first, and I just discovered today that my high school has not yet sent my transcripts. What do I do? They can probably get them out in the next week, would that work? Do I contact the colleges? I' m really worried.

Do the colleges use some kind of website login for the applicants? If so you can check on it. I think it would best if you called in. Or just send the transcripts ASAP. The mail can sometimes be unpredictable so they may gvie you some leeway.

just notify them and they'll understand if it's your high school that dropped the ball and not you.

I didn't trust my high school either, which is why I had them put it in an envelope when i was there and just had them give it to me.

Call the schools you applied to and explain the situation. Be friendly and don't bash your HS, but explain that they dropped the ball (perhaps say they were overwhelmed by seniors applying to schools, etc.)

Then, call your HS and tell them to do it NOW. Explain how urgent it is (tell them the deadline has passed!) and that they need to go out TODAY.
