I took 2 subject tests and scored a 720 on the literature and a 630 (sad) on the Spanish. I know these scores aren’t great (especially the Spanish, which is in like the 39th percentile), but will they completely ruin my chances of admission at schools that require subject tests (if the rest of my app is solid)? I received an A+ in Spanish last year btw, and am taking AP this year.
Thanks!!
take the Spanish test again - this time take the one WITHOUT listening.
^I second the recommendaton of retaking the “regular” Spanish subject test in October or December (NOT November).
I think subject tests are used to check for potential grade inflation. If you got an A in Spanish, but only a 630 on the subject test, that’s a red flag for college admissions. I definitely think you should retake Spanish (the one without listening). Try to aim for a 700+.
Elite colleges allege they check subject test results first. They know a fluke can alter the Reasoning test’s results, but getting 700+ in a subject is always a proof of mastery.
