How much will low-SAT Scores Hit me?

Okay so firstly I am the valedictorian of my high-school, and have solid As and A+ on all my college courses and 5s on all APs that I have taken. The only issue is that I have a low sat score 2190 which was my first and only attempt, and I haven’t really given it again.(I feel like the SAT is a bs test and I don’t want to waste time on it). I have good sat 2 scores 800 800 780. Lately people have been saying that I should have given sat 1 again, so now I am freaking out a little. should I give it again in December, or maybe give ACT? pls help

My target colleges are HYPS+M and Top LACs(Williams, pomona, amherst.midd)
ill be applying for financial aid aswell.

“Low SAT scores”

@Mrduque my scores are 25th percentile for most and below average for all of the colleges that I am applying to. That is why I said low. I was satisfied with a 2190 because its a good score for me, but recently people have been saying that its too low(they might be right since I am 25th percentile)

i think you should stick to a 2190 honestly, you do not want perfect grades as you will look “too perfect” considering you are already valedictorian and have really good sat 2. if you are a student with basically nothing except academics, take it again. If you are involved in other life in school, dont take it. This is my opinion

Nothing wrong about retaking it… If your score is below the 25% at your targets retake it. What do you have to lose?

This is terrible advice, fwiw.

You should take either the New SAT or the ACT in December. First, do a timed sample test and see which one you do better on.

I agree with londondad !

What is the breakdown of your 2190 and how do the subscores compare percentile-wise to the schools you are applying to?

Decided to go through with the wait-list option for the November SAT because of the advice you guys gave.
Ended up with a 1560 22 Essay, and now feel a lot more comfortable.
Safe to say i wouldn’t have given it if i didn’t get the advice from you guys. Thanks a ton!

^ Well done!!
