How should I rank the colleges?

I'm a very nerdy girl who needs a good amount of peace and quiet. That's not to say I'm socially dead, I'm just not particularly active. I plan on going into computer engineering, and I would prefer to have as few GEs as possible, but if I have to, it's okay if I get the freedom to go in depth where I want to (ie having lots of science requirements is okay so long as I can choose to put all those requirements into physics courses) and also if they tend to be more on the mathy-siencey side, that would be cool.

I definitely value clean dorms, and nice dorms would be cool too (clean is more important!). I would prefer not to share dorms, but that's not a big downer either. And food is always good... and I don't really care how far it is from the center of campus.

So I assume I should put Warren first, then Muir? How's Sixth? And Roosevelt and Revelle should be last, right?

It looks like you already know how you want to rank them. Warren is the best for Engineering. You have fewer GE’s and if you are CS you’ll spend a great deal of time in “the dungeons” (a computer lab in warren). Also Warren is relatively secluded. All the campus food is going to taste relatively the same. As far as dorms go, how clean your dorm is depends on how clean you and your suitemates are. ERC has the newest and nicest dorms. Revelle apts are also very new. Also, when you fill out your statement of intent once you have been accepted you can pick if you want a single, double, or triple (no guarantees though).

If you don’t like GE’s and writing then choose ERC and Revelle last.

Agreed, ERC has the nicest and newest. It does somewhat depend on your major as far as the GEs you’ll have to do. Muir also has some easier courseloads as far as GE’s (so I’ve heard, do some research to make sure). Clean dorms will be based on your suite mates and roommates, so you cannot guarantee that unless you were to get a single, which is highly unlikely… Housing was really impacted this year and most new students living in res halls got triples.

I agree that Warren seem to be your best choice. However, I live in Warren apt right now and I think it’s kind of dirty maybe because Warren is just nearby the canyon so there’re pest problems.
Warren is just right next to ComsciEng. building which is nice

I never really live in Warren res hall before but I’d been in there once and it’s quite small, like the same size as Marshall’s

I don’t really like the layout of Muir’s reshall even though Muir seems to have the nicest GE’s
ERC’s GE’s don’t seem to go with your major (it’s more of like international relations major kinda thing idk)
Sixth and Revelle has too many GE’s

Potential order: Warren, Muir, Marshall, ERC, Sixth, Revelle.

I’m not sure about the order of Muir vs Marshall and ERC vs Sixth. What do you guys think?
