The topic was "Do people emphasize too much on practical skills"

I first wrote:

What is the true meaning of pratical skill? Is it considered the same by everyone? Some people view it as blah blah (I basicly said how some people value it too much and it is a bad thing)

My example one was:

About how the ancient chinese sold their daughters. I said something about how they forced their daughter to marry people with affulence regardless whether if they love their husbands. I think i concluded with that this is nt only practial but inhumane as well.

My second example:

I talked about the SAT prep books. I said how some people took advantage of these and took the practical way out, exempting them from reading tons of books and memorize the dictinary. I also condemned how such a behaviour led to cb's frequent change of the test thus affecting many other innocent people.

My conclusion:

I didn't eevn finish my first sentence. I just wrote "It is fortunate that"
I intended to say that some people still do enjoy fine arts, etc but the worldis getting more and more practical. It would take more then this mere essay to change ppl's views that they aare too practical or sth like that.

How should I score without my finished conclusion and how would i score with it.

did you fill two pages? then you are pretty much guaranteed an 8 atleast. Then let god do the rest and stop thinking too much now. Go enjoy summer. (coming in two weeks!!)

I just read your examples and they seem pretty viable to me and well teh CB example is original and very "collegy" so that should get you browny points if you get a grader who hates her job (of grading essays) as much as you and I hate the SATs

i had the memories question (like whether or not they hinder or help you..etc)

I wrote about Immigrants during the 1900s and then related that to Upton Sinclair's THE JUNGLE and my second example was Michael Jordon and how he used his past failures to propel him forward in his NBA career etc.

On my MAY sat I used the 3 example approach and got an 11 so I decided to use 2 this time, because I could write more. SO I guess we'll jsut wait and see.

For what it's worth, I had a 1 example (more like a comparison, not a solid example), which I stated in the intro and then repeated again for the body, filled the essay 7/8 of the first page, and had a 1 sentence "conclusion." I got a 10. Just so you know, it is possible. People really overestimate how hard it is to get a "decent" score.

Thx so much guys but I got very discouraged after i got a 9 for this...in march

Prompt: Is creativity needed more than ever in the world today?

(West Coast essay. Actual unrefined essay)

It is without a doubt that humans have emphasized the importance of creativity. But what is questioned today by many experts is whether if the desire to chase creativity has declined during the years. Perhaps the people who do believe that creativity has declined have failed to see that it is not the demand of innovation which has being curtailed but it is the failure of humans to synthesize anything authentic that led to a period with insipid tastes!

Picasso is the watershed of modern art. To the common eye, Picasso's works may seem uncomprehensible but it is a facr that he is revered as one of the best painters of all time by an overwhelming number of people. The people who do like him may be like the rest of us; failing to ultimately 'understand' his peices. However, what people adore is the fact that Picasso is creative. It is not a common sight to see human legs on top of eyeballs or figures distorted beyond recognition. If another Picasso arises among the dull minds of today, people will perhaps not welcome him as much as the first because afterall, the fresh idea behind the works are gone. What humans do need badly today is a new idea but these 5000 yars seemed to have drained all of the talents away.

Another example are the cellphones. Not only are cellphones smaller and performs better but their designs have changed to suit the taste of the consumers. Why are teenagers changing cellphones every few monthes? It is because that among all of the banal items surrounding us, cellphones are one of the few that have evolved. The hunger of homosapiens to experience a change is greater than ever and they are willing to pay for it but sadly the so called experts failed to produce any.

Thus through the two examples shown, it is not that humans have lost their interest in creativity. The shocking truth is that creativity seemed to have departed from the world. New ideas are less common day by day. Maybe it has to do with limited resources but maybe the final line is that humans have finally ran out of ideas.

I remember my teacher saying "hey you saw that girl with a 5 and a 6? well the funny thing is that there are two person who thought your essays were equal thus you both had 5s but the other grader gave her a 6 while giving you a 4, you see how subjective this is now?"

Haha i told that to my mother only for her to say "perhaps the one who gave her a six gave u a 5 and the person who gave u a 4 gave her a 5."
