Please discuss; this is very important to me.

Risley dining hall = Hogwarts

it was my main reason for applying

wait i thought Cornell WAS Hogwarts…

Dibs on Hermione as my roomie!

Hmmm. I was thinking about writing my Cornell essay regarding Cornell’s similarities to Hogwarts to be unique and original, but I’m guessing that it’s a pretty common essay topic for Cornell applicants?

^I wouldn’t have thought it.

actually one way we are really different is that we are not (so far as I know!) at the center of some epic battle between good and evil. that is why I would never want to go to Hogwarts, but Cornell is good!

one similarity is that I’ve heard HP movie music being played in by the chimes. and obviously Hogwarts would have the movie theme music playing too!

Hmm, that’s tough gmitil, but I would say that comparing Cornell to Hogwarts would be difficult to pull off unless you have some very sound content supporting it. Many people have read and loved HP, so it’s not something that will come off as unique unless you craft a very skilled essay that uses the Cornell/Hogwarts theme as a backdrop for discussing your passions rather than the main reason you applied to Cornell.

I love that this thread exists and that someone named Chandler Bing posted on it.

It’s perfect.

I’m assuming I’m in the company of other people who cried buckets on their 11th birthday because they didn’t get an acceptance letter to Hogwarts? Because that day sucked hardcore for me. :)

If you really want hogwarts, go to Uchicago. That school IS hogwarts.

I read on another thread that Rice was Hogwarts.

thank god cornell is no where similar to hogwarts, or id drop out right now hahahaha

there is a class on Magical Mushrooms…hmmm
Rice? no way, would Hogwarts be in texas? can you picture harry potter on a ranch in cowboy boots? please…u chicago is hogwarts. the whole school is like a castle. better yet, some college in england, like oxford or something. btw, did you know some colleges have quidditch teams? hahaha I know, so stupid. I picture some scrawny, pasty freshmen hopping around the football field on broomsticks…

Uhm. Not very?

I don’t go to Cornell but when I visited it was nothing like that.

Lol typical Northeasterner stereotyping Texas. Rice is not a ranch buddy.
But I’d have to agree, UChicago is definitely Hogwarts. The tour guide told me, so it must be true right?

Rice? The University in texas with the spanish architecture… yeah right

Well, Bill Maher and Ann Coulter both went to Cornell…

lol applejack

hahah I didn’t say Rice is a ranch buddy, but a ranch is something I would associate with Texas, not hogwarts. Have you ever seen Rice? looks nothing like Hogwarts…u Chicago does.

That’s exactly what I said brah

Basically everyone says their school is Hogwarts.
I was a group admissions info session of Ivy Leagues and the top schoools where half of them said they were like Hogwarts.
It was slightly sad, though I love Harry Potter. Actually listening to audiobook right now.
