My son submitted his application to Tulane on September 26th. His transcript and letters were sent in the week of October 3rd. We have confirmed that all of his materials have been received. According to Tulane, he will hear by December 15th the latest. My question is...what is the earliest he could hear? It would be so great to know asap!

The earliest would be this week, but it is impossible to predict when any one person will hear. It not only depends on how early their materials were received, but also on their particular qualifications, which admissions counselor they have (that won’t make a big difference, but travel schedules vary so it might shift things a bit), and how the overall admissions picture is shaping up. At least that is what has seemed to make the difference in the past.

Thanks fallen! Now that all of his applications are in, I guess that we have to just sit back and wait. I’m not sure which is more stressful! Tulane is one of his top two choices, so we are anxious to hear. We visited in April, met with the admissions counselor from our state and got everything in as quickly as possible. Now we wait!

Yes, it is hard not to be anxious. I can only repeat what I have said in the past. Take a lot of deep breaths, and try to internalize the fact that all that can be done by you and your son has been done, it is out of your control now. So no sense complicating your life with stress when it doesn’t change anything. But of course that is easier said than done.

Good luck!! Hopefully it will be soon. My DS heard in mid-late October. Hard to believe it was 5 years ago!!!

Has anyone received a decision yet? I applied back in early-mid September, but I haven’t heard anything yet.

I’m guessing people will start hearing this weekend or early next week. Just a guess based on bits and pieces of info.

^ That would be so amazing. Although admissions told DS’ GC that they have everything from him, his application status online still says they are missing things. Hoping they update it and that DS hears in the first rounds of decisions (everything was sent in mid-Sept). He did email with his admissions rep last week when he sent a new recommendation.

Already in to a safety but that was only somewhat exciting because it was the first (and came with a big scholarship). Holding my breath now…

I’d love to hear as soon as this weekend. I’ve literally been on pins and needles for the last couple of days.

EDIT:
Not literally, figuratively.
I thought that was an important note.

I would certainly hope it wasn’t literally meant…unless you’re into, I dunno, acupuncture or something. XD

I’m on pins and needles too, figuratively…although some acupuncture for my anxiety might help! Linymom, my son’s app status said that they were missing things for about a week after I confirmed that they had received all materials. Then, Gibson showed two messages 1-Your application is incomplete and then 2- Your application is complete. The two messages were up also for about a week. Today, a big change…there is only one message…Your application is complete! I’m hoping that this change means that we will hear soon!
everyone…please post as soon as you hear, so that my anxiety can really shoot through the roof! good luck!

Hi Linymom. I tried to PM you back, but College Confidential said that they only allow private messaging if you have 15 posts or more, which apparently, I do not! I better start posting more!

Since Gibson started working properly (maybe around October 10thish or so), I’ve had the message that my application is complete. No news since then, though.

jozuko: Yes, get on those posts. Love the PM function here. Chatting with some great (and helpful) people!

Good news: DS’ Gibson account now says his application is complete. Step one, CHECK.

I wonder if we’ll hear anything today…I know my sister and many of my other friends heard back from various schools after the three o’clock hour on Fridays last year.

We’re on pins and needles here, I have to say. ;)

25 kids showed up at my son’s HS for the Tulane rep’s visit. I think he was a bit discourage by that, seeing how many people were applying or thinking of applying.

I’m happy for you Liny! I’ts such a relief to know that you are complete, but the waiting to hear still stinks. Let’s hope we start to hear soon!

Mavitale that scares me too… If they have an increased number of applicants this year then I hope my application is marked as complete soon so they can start reviewing it. I have everything (or at least my counselor said she sent them).
