Has anyone heard yet?
That would still be a bit early, maybe, but might as well use this thread for the first person that hears. Certainly could be some this week.
i submitted on 9/20 and have had the “complete and awaiting review” status for about a week now. think i could be hearing this week? or later?
It is really hard to say. First, it depends on if you are a strong admit or borderline. If the latter they will wait and see how applications are shaping up. If the former, then it depends somewhat on the diligence and travel schedule of your AO. But if it is a yes, and given how early your app was complete, you certainly could hear in the next week. But again, even if you don’t it could just mean your rep is loaded with apps and busy with Tulane seminars.
It is important to remember that Tulane is not really a rolling admissions school, they do it this way for both strategic reasons and out of courtesy to the students. But they only promise a Dec. 15 notification. The year could come when Tulane decides to hold all decisions until December, like many other schools. I don’t see that happening soon, but you never know. So don’t get anxious and don’t get upset if it takes longer than in the past. Tulane’s rising profile keeps changing the situation just a little. With the big kick up in the USNWR ranking, there might be a lot more apps, especially from foreign students. Hard to say how that might affect admissions.
My daughter applied on August 1st SCEA. We do not have a response yet.
Wow, that might be a record!
But of course the key is when Tulane shows the file as being complete. Some of it is out of the student’s hands.
My daughter’s says complete and awaiting review. Will it change to something else before she is notified on whether or not she got accepted?
We had sent previous ACT scores but just sent her most recent last night. Her writing scores finally came back. Hopefully they’ll see this new set of scores before making their decision.
There is nothing wrong with sending an email to your admission officer telling them the new scores. You can say that given the timing between when they might make their decision and when ACT might send them, you (by which I mean your child, they should do this themselves) thought it wise to alert them to the higher scores. They know you won’t lie and risk having the decision vacated when they get the official scores.
Oh, and I don’t think it will change to anything else, except that the next change should be a decision.
Thanks @fallenchemist. I’ll have her do that. It might make a difference as her ACT composite went from a 31 to a 32. She took the test for a third time hoping to increase her math score. Unfortunately, that score has basically stayed the same since her baseline practice test a year ago. Fortunately, her English and reading were a 35 and 36, which resulted in a higher composite.
Great score, and that one point certainly could influence the merit award.
Her application status now says “currently not available”. It did say “complete and under review”. Any idea what this means?
Tulane’s system does this a lot. Just ignore it, she is fine.
My D just finished the online chat that Tulane hosted. She is very excited about what she heard and thinks it sounds like an amazing place to go to school!
There were several questions about when people would start hearing about admissions. The response was that people would hear after Nov 15 but by Dec 15. She’s still hoping to hear sooner than that!
Hi all, I haven’t been on these boards in a while…my son is a Tulane junior. He loves Tulane and is currently studying abroad for the semester in Madrid through the Tulane business school. Three years years ago, when my son applied, he received his acceptance on November 1. So, some of you may be hearing soon! Good luck and hopefully soon, I hope to welcome you to the Tulane family!
I hope so too. I have seen statements like this in the past, and decisions still came out sooner. I think they just like to be careful in case of unforeseen circumstances. But you never know. As I mentioned somewhere, Tulane is getting very large classes, which came from an unexpected uptick in yield, and stronger classes academically. Now they have the big jump in the USNWR ranking, which I imagine will affect applications, especially internationally. So there might be a desire to wait and see all the early applications before notifying. Hard to say. Things evolve, plus there is a practical limit to the size of incoming classes.
Thanks for responding so quickly @fallenchemist. We asked in the live chat last night and they told us to call…but this morning it says complete and under review again. So we wait…
Not at all surprised. If you could go back and look easily, you would see that this has happened every year for at least 4 years now. I think it is just how the system is (poorly) designed to respond while it is being updated. It would be so much better if it would just say “Please check back later, system being updated”.
It’s funny…now that you mention it, I have seen it before. I must have forgotten since I was just a random parent before and now I’m an actual parent of someone who applied. It’s unreal.
I sent my application in a few days ago, does anyone know how long it will take before they receive my ACT score? And are there any predictions for how early people will get their decision letters?
I’d personally like my decision as well… has anyone started hearing?
