Well, to give a little perspective here, it was only 2-3 years ago that Tulane had more applications than any other private school in the country, and I think more than anyone except UCLA, although I am very unsure about that latter statement. I think the number was just a shade under 44,000 apps. Then they added the “Why Tulane” question and the number of applications dropped. Last year it was just under 38,000. So the addition of personal statements, etc does seem to have at least a small effect in keeping those less serious from applying, and also those that choose not to answer those “optional” questions have been far less likely to be admitted EA or even RD. At least anecdotally that is how it seemed to go.

Congratulations!
You have been admitted, and we welcome you to the Tulane family. You will soon receive a formal admission letter and invitations to special programs for admitted students. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the Admitted Students section of our website.

:D :D

Congrats cruxclaire!

Now come visit! The weather is literally perfect this time of year

Congrats cruxclaire! If you don’t mind my asking, where do you live?

I’m in the Chicago area, in the Northwest 'burbs. And thanks!

Now comes the part where I talk my parents into going for a visit so I can see Tulane and NO for the first time. :D

omg! congrats cruxclaire. you are the first one! i just checked Gibson (again) and no change… 1-where do you live and 2- did you find out from Gibson or an email??

1: Park Ridge, IL - really close to Edison Park in Chicago
2: I was just doing my periodical Gibson check, and the “Congratulations” message was there in place of the little text box where it tells you whether or not your application is complete.

And thanks! :)

Congratulations Claire! That is so exciting. I checked Gibson and I’m still waiting on a decision. Hopefully mine is as positive as yours!

Way to Go Crux!!! Congrats!

Congrats Claire!!! What are your stats?

I was curious about that as well, so I checked her other posts. Save her the trouble of retyping. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1396399-chances-swarthmore-georgetown-tufts-more.html Pretty outstanding!

Congrats!!

Congratulations!! I was also wondering what your stats are (I know that it seems like that’s all we want here xD). But really, that’s great. I’m glad to finally see some acceptances happening here!

Congrats!! Your stats are very impressive, so I can’t say I’m MORE relaxed for my son as a result of your admission, though. :)

Hopefully this means the rest of us or our kids will start hearing…

Just checked and I am in! I have 3.7 UW and 4.15 W, and 33 ACT. Upward trend on grades from freshman year and 6 AP courses and lots of honors courses including this year. I am also in the Chicago area, and sent my application in around Sept. 16th. Good luck to all of you!!!

congrats!! So exciting!

Congrats GoodThing!

I think there is a direct correlation between Chicago students getting into Tulane first and Super Bowl appearances by Chicago teams. LOL. Although Matt Forte is a Tulane grad, 2nd generation. And as long as I am digressing, Dezman Moses of Green Bay, who recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown today, made the squad as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane. The articles about how he impressed everyone there were great, especially about his work ethic and intelligence. Like nearly all Tulane athletes, they both graduated. Forte left after 3 years I think, but he kept his promise to his mother and finished during the off season. Finance, IIRC.

Not a lot of Tulane players in the pros, so gots to brag on the ones that are.

Congrats! I wish I applied earlier but I wasn’t interested and I didn’t even know much about Tulane until a few weeks ago. :

Congrats Goodthing! Did you get an email or was it on Gibson first? We keep checking Gibson, but no change and of course, we have the Hurricane coming here tomorrow, so I’m sure that our power will be out for days. i hope that I can check in with my cell phone!
