To all of you guys who attend Stern, how is life like at NYU Stern? What is your workload and amount of free time you have in general? What would you describe as your hardest or maybe perhaps "weedout" classes? In high school, Math and Science are best subjects and English is my weakest, so what classes would you guys say I might find the hardest? Also, would you say the atmosphere at Stern is collaborative or cutthroat competitive? I am also considering minoring in CS and am wondering if its possible to fit in a double major with CS.

Very good questions. Somebody please answer them, as e am curious too.

I enjoy it. I’m not a transfer so I can’t compare it to anything, but being in the city is great.

What is your workload and amount of free time you have in general?
When I’ve had internships, generally 45-60 hours a week on work + classes + homework. The other time by definition, is free time.

What would you describe as your hardest or maybe perhaps “weedout” classes?
Core classes have “grading guidelines” which are essentially a curve, so subjects that you struggle in may mean that you’ll end up with a b+. I haven’t found any particular class to be significantly harder than others.

In high school, Math and Science are best subjects and English is my weakest, so what classes would you guys say I might find the hardest?
The classes that involve English. i.e. Writing the Essay (required for all NYU), business and its publics, etc.

Also, would you say the atmosphere at Stern is collaborative or cutthroat competitive?
I’d be lying if I said exclusively collaborative, but keep in mind that at any school there will be a couple of people who either actively look for chances to take advantage of others or simply take every opportunity given. For the most part I think it’s the former.

I don’t understand this question. You want to do both a CS major and minor?
