I did my housing deposit but how do I apply to the dorm I want? Do I need to send in my enrollment deposit as well? I’m not 100% sure on UT but I want to make sure I get a dorm I want. Thanks!
Housing Steps:
- Complete your housing application and pay $50 application fee.
- Accept your enrollment to UT and pay $200 enrollment deposit.
- Receive a housing contract. Housing contracts are offered in housing application date order to students who have accepted their enrollment, based on availability and with priority to first-time freshmen.
- Submit your housing contract and pay $300 housing advance payment.
- Now you can submit housing preferences! You are able to submit preferences for your residence hall, bathroom type, roommate(s) and special living communities. You have until July 1 to complete your preferences, and you may change them as many times as you want up until that date.
Note: There is no benefit to submitting your housing preferences early!

When you submit your housing preferences/contract doesn’t matter. It does matter the timing of your $50 application fee. Since it sounds like OP sent their application in earlier rather than later, they shouldn’t have issues receiving their first or second choice.
No need to rush sending in your enrollment deposit - it has no bearing on what housing you will receive 
You have until May 1 to confirm enrollment.
