Leaders are servants, to their followers, not themselves.

From Student Body President, to Varsity Swim Captain, to Math Team Captain, I did it all. If you do it for yourself, you'll suck at it and will not be reelected.

To be a leader u need to be friendly to EVERYONE (dont be selective), smart (or seem smart @ least), helpful, confident, firm with your values, and being tall helps too ;P Plus, being loud does not always help u.

In elementary and middle school, I was extremely shy and not very confident. However when i started high school, my confidence somehow grew and i ended up getting a stack of leadership positions (all voted for by my peers). So i'm living proof that people are not necessary born leaders.

Make a club or something. Anyway, some people are not that good leaders. Though I wouldn't call a popularity contest "leadership", it doesn't matter if you are not getting elected.

- Nope, leaders are those that blow on the silver whistle and watch the peons charge over the 600 yard trench line under machine gun/rifle fire.

Play on your strengths!!! That's the most important part. They will naturally elect you as the leader in something if you are the best.

The thing about it is that you either have leadership qualities or you don't. No buts about it. Some people just aren't leaders, and that is totally fine, because there is a whole world of other opportunities, i.e. research, internships, summer work, etc.
