How to change colleges at UCSD??? >_< I need to get out of ERC!!!?

Ok so I wanted Warren at UCSD, but I got into ERC.... The have to take three more history/writting classes when I transfer int the fall. Only one problem. The two biggest subjects I hate ever are History and Writing. I can't do this. I have to get into another college at UCSD. I can not attend a college where I don't agree with the philosophy unless I want to turn into the biggest rebel. I am an Electrical Engineer major and see no way that ERC college will benefit me in anyway. How can I get into another college at UCSD? HELP!!?!? >_< I also wanted to minor in economics. ERC would take time away from economics classes too. If I was at another college perhaps I could use some of the GE requirements for my economics minor? BUT NOOOO!!! I HAVE TO BE BOTHERED BY THESE STUPID HISTORY CLASSES WHICH I HAVE NO INTEREST IN. cries :/

Welcome to the club

Good luck though, I’m an EE major that got stuck in ERC as well. I’m not giving up yet I’m going to bug some people at UCSD and try valiantly to get out of ERC as it’s a deal breaker for me and if I’m not out by June 1st it looks like Community College for another year… ■■■.

I feel your pain, I hate writing and I thought I did my time at JC when I did my two writing/critical thinking classes but apparently not. I’m also a science geek and all the intercultural blah blah blah that underlies the theme of ERC is soooooo useless and boring to me.

Honestly I don’t care where I end up at. I just do not want to be bothered by anymore writing or history classes. Is there any chance I could just switch in general to another college? Anywhere is way better than ERC IMO. >_<

Well you could probably switch into Revelle but you would have to take other classes instead of writing (but I’m not sure what). Warren, Marshall and Muir all have the friendliest GE’s so people aren’t switching out of those in a hurry so unfortunately for us switching into one of those is unlikely.

I swear, if I get stuck in ERC, I am going to be the biggest ERC rebel ever.

If you can switch out, and if they can’t place you in Warren, I can recommend Revelle. Revelle isn’t bad at all if you are a science/engineering major who has completed IGETC, you just have to take some foreign language classes. If you already speak a foreign language, you can totally test out of the requirement. I speak some Japanese, and am planning to test out of as much as I can. That puts my GE reqs back to a reasonable level (i.e. I may actually graduate in 2012, LOL).

Well I don’t remember a darn thing after taking Spanish, but foreign languages are a million more times useful to me than history classes.
