How to deal with wait-list?

I am unsure how to go about being wait listed at Irvine. Do I have to wait after May 1st before I can accept any of my other college admissions?

My plan is to go to UCSC if I don’t get off of UCI’s wait-list, but do I accept admission for UCSC before May 1st? What happens if I get off the wait-list for UCI after May 1st and I want to go to UCI?

Any input is greatly appreciated (totally lost here).

Hi- you absolutely need to accept UCSC before the deadline, otherwise you will lose this school as an option. When you accept, you will pay a 100$ fee, and about 150$ for the mandatory housing portion of the acceptance. This money will not be refunded if you get into -and choose to go to UCI.
Schools will not accept anyone off the waitlist until after the deadline to accept passes- for UCs May 1st.

I made this same decision this week- SIRed to UCSC, hoping for UCI. Getting off the waitlist at UCI is a very slim possibility- I think its between 2-5%.

Thank you for your response. I’ll be doing the same thing as you then. Also, I heard that UCI usually either accepts no one or almost everyone off the wait list. So I don’t think the chances are that grim.

Hi, a question … where on your portal did it tell you that you were wait listed ? Did you have a message or please describe how you spotted it on the portal, thank you, I ask because I’m a transfer applicant waiting.

UCI makes it very easy, at least for freshman applicants. The "banner’ across the top changes color, from Purple to blue if accepted, to a dark colored banner if waitlisted.(Dark green?Black?) It says “accepted in big letters,” If accepted. If waitlisted, It clearly says what to do to accept the wait list.
