How To Enroll MIT

If any one know the basis and requirement or any one had enrolled in MIT who have good advice … especially for transfer student from university to another one like MIT

The application process and time line is well described on the MIT website. It is very competitive for a transfer student, more so than first year students. It is even more competitive for international students.

I would like to thank you for the response … I have seen the MIT admission website , the application process and the time line … But I mean if there are basis required regardless SAT exam and TOEFL …also I want to know why there are a competitive for transfer student than first year student …espicially I am just at first year of university

I don’t know if the requirements for application are different for incoming freshman versus transfers with college experience, perhaps someone will add to your thread as the day in the USA gets later.

I don’t mean requirements of application … I mean requirements to be accepted at MIT … I have seen some of your posts about MIT … That means that you have a background about the academic records , examples for competition taken by someone who had accepted at MIT

I have no expertise about MIT, but like other very selective schools, your entire record is important, must show high caliber, and something that makes you stand out. For some that is awards, competitions, science publications, businesses, apps, start ups, you name it.

Thank you for your respond I would like to contact with you soon .

@mos3ad111 I hate to be a bit harsh, but English proficiency is one of them. Assuming you’re applying for UG (transfer), MIT does have a writing requirement, and it’d be very difficult to survive MIT classes without English proficiency, which I don’t see much of here.

You can see a more complete list of requirements here:
http://mitadmissions.org/apply/transfer/before (tabs such as “Required Documents” give more info)

The other question is, why MIT in particular?

Indeed, seeing that this thread was started at 04:30 EDT on a Saturday morning…

I would like to thank you for the response, In my opinion English proficiency is not the worst problem on the way, but my question is about a specific plan from someone who had accepted at MIT in computer science and electrical engineering department in particular , I would like to apologize for my bad English proficiency but I am trying ,
Sorry for wasting your time.

About your question , why MIT in particular? , when I have read about MIT and about its system , How to study,To play, To life , I feel that is the place which I hope to be a part of it , Because MIT is the best place where can put our efforts on the best way to get the best results and at the same time make your life a perfect one , I know a lot of people who really really better than me , but I thought my personality better than them , I love the hard study especially when I am sure that , I am studying after people who had experience and in the right way , I love work , I love reading , But I don’t like the book which only contain a words , But contain a soul of words . At last , I love playing , actually I am not a man who all what he make on his day only study, But I am man who make on his day improve his skills , That about the system and there are many things which I prefer at MIT, I would like to discuss it with you inbox later .
Sorry for wasting your time, again .

@mos3ad111 I feel like that alone will keep you out; even if you are accepted, it will be very hard surviving at MIT with that level of proficiency. I suggest you continue working on your English. It is a hard language, I know.

Are you an international student? Have you taken the TOEFL, SAT, or ACT? Subject tests?

Unless you’re referring to graduate/Ph.D. admissions, you are accepted into the entire university, not a specific department.

I appreciate your aspirations and goals to get into MIT, but it is extremely competitive as a transfer student, and a vague answer probably won’t cut it. As NorthernMom61 pointed out, they look at all facets of your application, including UG GPA, test scores, recommendation letters, activities/awards, essays and other statements, etc.

@MITer94 Sure I won’t be able to life or study at USA with my level of proficiency ,but I mean I have just started to learn it , I am from Egypt , Alexandria . Now I am looking for which is better SAT or ACT especially I have read on website about colleagues that MIT require to have high records at both of them , That question which I want to asking you about it and if you have any idea the best way to prepare for them , I found references and sites about that but I am not sure ? . I study English but online , But I don’t for now how to prepare to TOEFL test but I am still searching , BTW I have no idea that MIT admissions not require specific activities or awards for each department , this part I am asking you to more explaination about it , Now I am asking for your opinion , Have I any chance to prepare for MIT in just that year to apply for it at next September and to enroll at MIT at academic year 2017/2018 . I appreciate all of your help,Sorry for wasting your time, again .

Not true. MIT requires the SAT or ACT or TOEFL. I suggest you take the TOEFL. You’ll also have to take a math and a science subject test. Except for TOEFL, there are no required test scores, but competitive applicants will have high scores on them.

Also, when typing in English, there should be no spaces before the punctuation marks (.,!?).

@MITer94 I would like to thank you on your advice, I am wondering if you are a student at MIT or graduate ,what is your department and where are you from ?

@mos3ad111 current MIT student, math w/ CS major, domestic student (from the US).

@MITer94 Why some students take minor and other don’t ?

@mos3ad111 You don’t need a minor to graduate from MIT.

@MITer94 I know that but I want to know What its advantages and disadvantages about taking a minor?
(Unless you’re referring to graduate/Ph.D. admissions, you are accepted into the entire university, not a specific department.) , being you one from MIT student, In your opinion what is the main thing MIT want in their applying student to have?, or what is main thing MIT want their applying student to do?, I know their is no specific thing that must do or have. But I mean, In your opinion what are have which make you accepted at MIT? Or your friend who also accepted? ,For example I know some one who have accepted at MIT because he got a rank at IOI, sure that was only in his opinion.

@mos3ad111 Advantages: more appealing to employers (E.g. a math major with a minor in economics looks more appealing for a finance company than a math major, usually). Some people might wish to minor in a completely unrelated field to pursue other interests.

Note that I am not minoring; math w/ computer science is a stand-alone major (18-C).

MIT doesn’t require minors, but does require a humanities concentration.

Disadvantages: more course requirements, obviously.

To be absolutely honest, it’s not in my best interest to tell you, other than to do what you enjoy. Go here and read “Activities.”

For me, probably a combination of grades, recommendation letters, and interest in math and other things.
