Hey guys, I got into UCLA w/ Tap and a 3.9 GPA into the biz econ major, but I just dropped Calc II for a "W" and now I need to notify them and explain it. What should I say?

That wasn’t a smart move, you’ll most likely get rescinded

duh. that doesn’t help

It doesn’t really matter what you say. The result will be the same.

no, they allow to retake the class

Tell them the truth.

the truth: Did crappy on first test…even crappier on second test…and dropped before the HARDEST test. I was worried I’d get a D in the class cause I messed up on the easiest tests! Teacher was a major ******bag too. I’d get the whole problem right accept the last step and he’d mark me off 2039473027 points. If I took it again, I’d work harder tho-

“no, they allow to retake the class”

No you are talking out of your ass. Do you know how many people got rejected to UCLA for missing 1 pre req? This is bus-econ, not underwater basket weaving. If you get very very lucky they’ll let you retake the class during summer or something. Try to beg them for that.

And for the record, I don’t know a single transfer here that didn’t have Calc 2 completed. You need to start on your upper divs.

Reiterating, this wasn’t a smart move… You should have called and asked them before you dropped such an important class. I guess if you had to explain it to them now, you need to stress that you will have the class done before you come in. Like have the class already signed up for during the summer or something.

Wow, that’s a major prereq you just dropped. You’re totally going to get rescinded lol no matter how you put it. Seriously, biz-econ is one of the toughest majors to get into at UCLA and you’ve just blown it by dropping a prereq. At least you’re TAP qualified so you’ll be put into your 2nd major if you listed one.

i heard they don’t consider you for your 2nd major. it’s somewhere on their website for transfer students

^
If you’re TAP certified, they will consider your second major.

If a dropped a class completely unrelated to my major, IGETC, or unit count, should i be as worried? or am i in the clear?

^ call the ucla office of admissions. they will tell you what you should do.

They actually seem rather cryptic, i called them earlier today and they said notify through the academic changes website ASAP once the change is made, and they said i should be fine but i just cant seem to shake the nervous feeling without having a 100% guarantee, and they cant give that to me, because they wont give you “hypotheticals” meaning “what ifs” are outta the question. You report a drop, and then you app gets reevaluated, and thats what scares me, but it just might be a risk i have to take.

you are probably fine… don’t listen to these people they dont know any better than you do. tell them the truth now it’ll be the best move.
