For FRESHMEN it says "The University reserves the right to close freshman admission earlier if warranted by enrollment limitations and the number and quality of applications. The University does not accept freshman applications for the spring semester." For Summer/Fall -- First deadline Oct 15, 2008. Last deadline Jan 21, 2009.

For TRANSFERS it says "Florida State University has exceeded enrollment limitations and, as a result, will only accept Spring 2009 applications from students wanting to transfer to FSU directly after receiving the AA degree from a Florida public community college." For Spring -- Deadline Nov 1, 2008.

I'm going to try to apply by the October deadline. I got a 32 on the Sept ACT, but I'm still waiting for my writing score. I heard that FSU superscores the ACT...is that true? Because on the app it asks for the best scores you've ever gotten on each section. If so, I will have a 33. :D I don't know why other schools don't superscore the ACT. My GPA is 4.15 weighted. I hope I get in.

Your stats look very strong! Since you're instate, your high school guidance department should be able to electronically send your transcipt. Get all of your app materials in for the October deadline to give yourself the best shot at admission because EARLY is best!!!

Hi everyone. I applied to FSU in October and get a decision on March 18th. I already got in to UCF (my safety school) but am bugging out because I really want to go to FSU. My SAT scores were 590 reading, 560 math (1150)... 3.3GPA unweighted.... I started out freshman year slacking off and had bad grades, pulled them up a bit sophmore year, and then got straight A's junior and now senior year.... so I know that will help my admission. I have ec such as habbitat for humanity, working on political campaign, and working in a hospital.... do you think I will meet the requirement to get in? I know my SAT and GPA aren't great but I'm hoping the ec and grade trend will help me. I live in state by the way.

edit: just to add... i plan on majoring in pre-law/political science.

Anyway thanks for all the info in this thread and others, its been a good read.

I'd say 35% chance of being accepted. Are you a URM?
Your GPA and SAT scores are gonna kill you.
What is your FSU weighted GPA? How rigorous was your high school schedule (how many APs?)

Not a URM. Not sure my weighted GPA but I am taking 1 AP class and currently have an A in it. Also forgot to mention that I applied for summer, so hopefully that will help a bit.

Well I applied to FSU with a 3.4 gpa from a community college will have my AA this semester. What are my chances of getting in? I've applied their and UF but It seems that in FSU I have a better chance according to a buddy whos at FSU and who applied to both schools. The thing with me is that I sent all my stuff transcripts and what not but I called them to ask if they needed recommendations and they had me on hold.. Got me pretty upset, so im wondering do i need to send in anything extra other then the requirements on the website.

I think you have a very good chance for transfer admission. The only issue would be if you were trying to be admitted to a very limited, competitive major or were missing required prerequisites. Good Luck!

I know its REALLY late to be applying, however I did not consider FSU until very recently. Now that I'm hearing all these good things about it I'm starting to become very interested. I just submitted my app today. My GPA (uw) is 3.6, my SATs are 2040/2400, and I have a very rigorous senior year schedule (5 APs). I know the pickings are slim by this time, but what do you think my chances of acceptance are? Also, do you think I have a chance to be accepted into the honors college?

What's your FSU-weighted GPA? Is it above a 4.0? If yes, then I still think you have an excellent chance for admission considering that your GPA/SAT are much above Honors.

77:it,s a huge maybe.......... You missed even the last deadline. The fact that one can still hit "send" on the application page means that at least it went in. Will they even consider it? Maybe, maybe not. You are a competitive student. Will you stand out at this very late date, hard to know. They may look at the date and see procrastination, or someone who needs a last minute safety. It's just so late in the game.

I emailed admissions and am awaiting a response. I can't believe how stupid I was. I mean, I am a very good student and am confident that I would have been readily accepted had I recognized the deadlines. Any advice would be appreciated...

If FSU strictly enforces the admission deadline...You could take some general education classes at community college and get them out of the way until you are admitted. Be careful to choose courses that will easily transfer credit to FSU for your major.
