Hi, I have a simple question here. How to know MoHo students/alumnae before application? I know the campus visit is the best way to get to know MHC, but if you can't arrange one right before the application, what would you do? Someone suggested talking to current students/alunae is quite helpful to find if it is a fit/match. And talking to them will make you write a better application essay I think. So that's my question's origin. Thanks in advance! :)

Snoop around on MHC Facebook groups :) Read some of the discussions (re: social life, classes, ECs, dorms, who's majoring in what you think you'd also be interested in, etc), and then you might be able to figure out who you could want to talk to.

If you shoot them a PM on Facebook, explaining how you found them, and that you wanted some help in getting MHC's "feel" (in other words, be polite and not weird, rude or stalkerish), I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping you out.

The Admissions office, or the alumnae office, can help you contact alums in your area. I'm sure they would be happy to receive your request.

E-mail addresses for those office ,and phone numbers, are on the Mtholyoke.edu website.

Thank you limitedvocab and 2boysima!
btw, MHC facebook group is a closed one...sign

Why, yes, the groups are actually closed, I'd forgotten about that headdesk

Try messaging the admins?

Anyhoo, I asked my regional admissions officer to help me get in touch with a current student so I could ask her questions. I'm sure you could try that too.

Thank you very much, limitedvocab!
I read an admission officer's blog which said she wont in office until early Aug , for college fair recently. um, since I would be a transfer applicant...maybe it's better to contact with AO later, haha. I'm thinking about the composition of essay so it will be great if I have a talk with current students. Thank you for your time and best of luck to you!

hi, anyone here could add me on facebook please? I really want to know someone at MHC. Thank you. I will pm you if you are interested in adding me. :)

You probably already do know someone who's gone here. Check with your admissions counselor on campus to find out about past students who have come here. You can also contact the Alumnae Association of MHC to ask for women in your area.

As for the Facebook groups...they honestly won't tell you anything, and the students on them are NOT representative of the rest of us. So don't bother. :)

Thank you MHC2011. :) Your suggestion is quite helpful, i emailed the AO to get the email address of the alumnae in my area to arrange an interview.
I'm working on the MHC essays recently. SO it would be extremely important to understand the unique characteristic of MHC(other than gothic architecture and delicious food :P).

You can feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like. :)
