So I have gotten 30 twice on the ACT and need to get a 33 pretty badly. Between the 2 tests I did the whole red book, obviously it didnt help. So what can i do to increase my score?

This might be too obvious a question, but have any of you tried taking prep courses or working with tutors of some sort?? I know they can be expensive but a lot of prep programs provide financial aid and stuff IF that is an issue…

Try Barron’s ACT prep book. The material is more difficult than the test itself, so if you feel prepared with Barron’s you should be set on the exam.

^^well, I’ve done some self prep, but not any real courses. I know I’ll be able to raise my math, because I haven’t studied all the subjects that are on the test yet (I haven’t taken geometry or trig yet), but it’s the other subjects that don’t know how to improve because of their nature.

These were my score’s by the way:
30 E
31 M
31 R
28 S

^ are you real fast at reading? If not I’d work on speed reading so you don’t have to scim over so much material. I don’t know how much it, if any, applies to you, but it probably would’ve helped me.

On a side note, I am so jealous of you scores right now 0_o. You did awesome (two perfect subject scores!?! Your my hero, especially considering science was my worst subject)

Moving up a couple of points can be as easy as taking the test again. Each time you take it you are becoming more and more familiar with the test itself and the timing required to pace yourself. You may find that by taking it again you move up a few points with little or no practice. Practice though is always a good idea and can only be beneficial.

I’m speaking out of my own experience as I moved up from a composite score of 31 to 33 without any practice, with only a higher level of test familiarity helping me.
