I’m applying to a bunch of schools this fall, including Yale SCEA. My friend told me that, because the interviews are optional at Ivies, we have to request interviews now – we both got the Yale email saying that now is the time to register if we want to have on-campus interviews this fall. She signed up for this, since we’re about an hour away, and told me slots are running out. I was assuming that I would do my interview in the winter, after the SCEA deadline. I was under the impression that you were just randomly assigned an interview if there was an interviewer available for your location after yo submit your application, not that you had to specifically sign up for it, but now I’m confused. How exactly does the process of setting up interviews work at Yale and other Ivies?
Each school has a different process and will have interview information on their website. Examples:

Good luck!
Just to clarify, the Yale website says, “The ASC will not contact you for an alumni interview until after you have submitted your admissions applications to Yale.” This means that applicants don’t have to request interviews themselves, but that all applicants are contacted by interviewers if one is available for their region, correct? @magtf1
@writergirl0316 That’s correct. And you are not penalized for not having an interview.
