How to schedule work and school?

Hey guys I need some advice. So I'm graduating HS this very soon and going to a CC in the fall and I am going to (yes, I am confident) transfer to either UCLA or UC Berkeley after two years of hard work.

That's the plan. But I am going to have to schedule my classes and stuff according to assist.org, ratemyprofessor.com and that good stuff.

But on the other hand I am going to try to get a part time job as a busboy or dish washer at a local family-run restaurant. Just to pass the time and make a few bucks. Hopefully I will start this summer.

College is going to be the priority though, so should I just go ahead and schedule my classes first and go with the flow? Are busboy jobs pretty flexible when it comes to classes and stuff?

Has anyone cracked the code for a balanced class and work schedule? Keep in mind getting a high GPA is my priority. That means I want to have ample time to read and study.

Thanks in advance.

How badly do you need this job? If it is critical to your financial survival, then do your level best to schedule your classes within the same block of time for all school days. This will make it easier for you to set up a fixed work schedule.

Most restaurant jobs are quite flexible. And most employers will try to work with a student to allow them time off for their classes. Get the job now already and worry about your schedule once you have that figured out.
