How to Spend the Summer before senior year?

I’m currently a junior, and I am exploring programs for Summer 2019 before the deadlines for applying approach. I originally wanted to participate in a study abroad program that would allow me to study the Korean language and culture in South Korea while living with a host family. I have an interest in learning languages, however it does not have a clear correlation with my future career path. I’m wondering if it would be more beneficial to participate in a STEM summer program instead, one that is respected.

I know I should pursue what interests me, however I’ve already been rejected from a scholarship due to not having a clear focus in my application, and I don’t want this to happen again. Thus, I wonder which program I should do.

I would do whichever you are more interested in. It’ll come through in your college applications, and unless you are putting it in your CA activity list, only a few colleges might ask the “what’d you do the past 2 summers” question
