How to transfer from a CSU (Los Angeles/San Francisco) to the University of Chicago?

As a high school senior looking to cut costs, I have decided to consider a transfer option from CSU Los Angeles or San Francisco State. From the amount I have searched on college confidential, I know that it is something rather unpopular to transfer from a cal state to a private university. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on how exactly to achieve my goal of attending the University of Chicago, in terms of what kind of GPA I need, what classes I should/need to take, who to consult this matter with at a cal state and whatnot. Thank you for your time!

If you’re looking to save money, why not just go to a CC then transfer from there?

I have personal reasons for not wanting to live at home and I was also not reccomended to transfer from a cc because its getting harder and harder to get the classes I need to transfer.

I think it’s easier to go from a UC to University of Chicago than a CSU to Chicago.
my 2 cents

It’s pretty hard to get classes at CSU’s as well. Also, you don’t have to go to a CC near home. I know of three CC’s off the top of my head that offer housing-- Butte College, SBCC, and Cuesta.

I agree that it would probably be easier from a UC. Maybe call a CSU and see who they would advise talking to? I would also call U of C and see what they think.

Also keep in mind that transfers do not get as much financial aid as freshman at most colleges. I’m not sure if Chicago is like that, too. You should check that out.
