How to write a good Personal Statement for UC berkeley???

Hi You guys!!!!
I am currently attending Santa Monica College. Plan to transfer to UC berkeley.
Math major.
GPA 3.84
Calculus1 A
Calculus2 A
Calculus3 B That all the math i took so far. Plan to take "Ordinary Differential Equations" and I think i will get A.
All Other class are A.

Since I got a B in one of major pre, so i think the personal statement will be extremely important for me. However, I am a immigrant, so i dont really know how to write it. Can you guys plz give me some tips and suggestions??? Thank You.

BTW, can u guys Plz chance me for UC Berkeley. Some other informations: I was a Representative of "Investment management club." Worked as a math tutor in Santa Monica College. Member of a honor society "AGS." Also, i will be join another honor society "PTK" in this fall. Thank you guys.

Guys PLZ help me!!!

With the budget cuts, this year will be extremely hard for residents to get admit by UCs since we dont pay as much as international students do. Last year, some of my international friends even get in UCB with GPA 3.4. = =
so i am even afraid this year UCB would reject lots of residents due to financial reasons.
Guys plz help me to wirte a good personal statemen.~~~ Thank You

1> Stop worrying about that nonsense resident - international stuff
2> Attend workshops in your school. Most schools provide free workshop for personal statements in the fall
3> Write with your heart
4> Proofreading
5> Proofreading
6> And proofreading
7> Just so you know, if you indicate directly on your personal statement that you want UC Berkeley, most other schools won’t read it any more. So let’s say, if Cal rejects you, then you’re doomed, unless you TAG to another school already. So stay objective :)

spark boy is right, you definitely don’t want to give an edge to a single school (CAL) especially when that paper is heading to UCLA, or any other school.

@sparkyboy

Thank you, I would not indicate the CAL in my personal statement.

How is my chance of getting in CAL with my GPA and the activities? Math major

Post it in the chance thread for more review…
I’d say you have a good chance of getting in with a 3.84. Since most majors in L&S are not as ridiculously hard as HAAS or EECS…

As those before me have mentioned, you need to have something to work with (ideas/outline) before anyone can even begin to help you with your PSs. They are PERSONAL statements for a reason and the underlying concepts need to show who YOU are. Read the prompts, draft some ideas, and look into a Workshop at your CC to help you.
