How was everyones SSAT today?

Haha... tha banter between the two of you is very entertaing - and educational!

I found the reading REALLY easy... I didn't even have to think on any of the answers - it was all so straightforward, I struggled greatly on the practice tests so I guess I got lucky. I finished in like 15 minutes so I had a TON of time to check my answers like 3 times.

Yeah, the NYC story was really cool. I guess a lot of it is being able to identify the subtleties. And when it comes down to it, it can actually be quite a mathetmatical process. It isn't like most reading which is getting a 'feel' or 'emotion'.

I think that juxtapose was right. Except maybe phrased differently, like "it was a juxtaposition of the two" or something. But really, take this with a grain of salt, it's a new word to me as well.

And YEAH! Ahem... not a SINGLE word. I memorized 500 words! Not joking... more like 520. I DID manage to benefit in the reading though, so maybe that's why it was so straightforward. I guess in the end it's piqued my curiosity in the vocab department, and I've walked away with a broader range of words to draw from!

sigh... I just wanna know my gd scores!

Nothing is technically a solid, that we know of. But the next time you are in a building with old glass windows, look at the glass carefully. Depending on the age and composition of the glass, you may be able to see it thicker towards the bottom of the pane. I remember my dad pointing it out to me when I was a girl at a very old house we were visiting.

thanks neatoburrito! I read about that, and they said that it might have been an irregularity or it could have been that they did it on purpose so the glass would be stronger. I also read that it would take thousands of years for glass to actually "drip" down, so there wouldn't be any here that are that old. Maybe in Europe?

Yaaa , if there was a hard story it was the glass story. I didnt answer one..and was only like 90% sure on another (low compared to other questions).

I would be pretty happy if I was 90% sure of anything in life.

I finished all my sections with at least 3 minutes to check over anything once. I got through reading the fastest, with about 20ish minutes left to spare, so I checked it over a few times. All the stories were straightforward enough, only a couple questions managed to trip me up (haha yes, including the comparing NYC to a human one). I was glad I knew most of the words in vocab, although I didn't study them, just happened to remember them from somewhere else I read, although I'm pretty sure there were two I got wrong. Analogies I don't want to think about, haha. My essay topic was "Silence is better than noise," which I disagreed with, but could only think of one good solid example that I could relate to literature/history, because I didn't want to do a personal experience, so I had an intro, conclusion, and only one body paragraph. Hoopefully I did alright :) I'm sure we all did pretty well!

Also, about the glass=liquid story, we had a teacher talk about it in sixth grade to us :) we all thought it was soo cool, haha.
and yea, i laughed at the microscope story as well.

Haha! Oh god. THE MICROSCOPE STORY.

It was very embarrassing... I literally BURST out in a "HA!" amongst 250-300 SILENT kids. God it was horribly hilarious.

hahahaha!! we got to pick where we sit, and my new friends and I were like cracking up because we kept on spinning the spinny thing on the table. :D

Lol ya mmoy, I usually have trouble with the "what was the author trying to do" kinda questions. But I felt that it was very simple that it was for entertainment purposes. Especially towards the end of it when he screamed at her because she drew her eye...

But ya...I just really want them back lol.

Haha! I know... I was LITERALLY just thinking about that. I do have troubels with judging what the author would think. But gee I hope we're right! It was just too entertaining to be otherwise.

I cannot WAIT. I'm gonna die... what is it, like 10 days? Maybe?

Judging from when november came back compared to when SSAT said they would be back I would assume no later than 23...even though they don't say that. But who knows...thats just judging by the speed of last months.

test date: December 13, 2008
Scores to schools no later than: December 26
Scores to students no later than: December 31

from SSAT - Score Release Dates
but it does say "on or before" in the dates.

November came way before the date that was posted...so I'm guessing December will also.

Does anyone's online page show that their results have been delivered to schools yet? I don't know why they'd send results to schools on the 26th or whatever date they scheduled since most admin take time off between semesters.

my "Score Reporting Information" says the schools received my scores YESTERDAY...eek. And that I'll get my scores on Christmas Eve, one week earlier than expected :D

hopefully we'll all get an early christmas present (good ssat scores)

Just got scores by email--verbal 99, hooray. Others, well, not great, but okay I guess.

LOL. Well now I have to know... what was your overall? I'm sure it's great... if they're over 80, they're more than 'not great'. =]

96 % overall. Yes, the other scores were "more than 'not great'" (thanks for that) , but just barely more than in the case of math.
