Did you guys improve your SAT scores from the first sitting to the second one?
I got a compostie of 1800 on my first sitting but I'm looking forward for a 2150 on my second. Is that possible?
And also: I took the SAT on October this year and I will retake it on October next year. If I won't succeed will it be too late to take it again in November (since I'm applying as an international student next year)?
Thanx for your help

160 points

Try one this spring just in case

Hmmm...I improved 120 points (all in math and verbal/CR--60 points each) over three testing dates (i.e., first SAT score + 120 = final SAT score). Is a 350 point increase between two testing dates possible? I guess, but that's a pretty high number to shoot for from one testing date to the next. If you improve to the high 1900's to 2000, that would be a fantastic (and unlikely, truthfully) result, and that's 150 points less than your goal.

I would second a778999--take the SAT one time in between now and October. November is not too late to take the SAT, especially if you are not going to apply early anywhere, but school's that you are probably looking for (wanting to reach the 2100 range) are likely to ask for SAT II's, so you will need AT LEAST one testing date to take those as well. Better to take the SAT in June, which still gives you plenty of time to prep, and see how well you do. If you only move up a few points, you will have to accept that, while you can certainly prep your brains out and take it again, that 2150 is not likely for you. If you move up a decent amount, but not to 2150, you will still have one more shot with the SAT to get closer to your goal. And, if you do end up prepping beyond belief and getting close to that 2150, you can stop taking the SAT and worry about something else.

Don't forget that if you don't think the SAT is reflecting your true abilities, you may score much better on the ACT. I personally know people who scored the SAT equivalent of 250 points higher on the ACT than the SAT.

Sophomore year (didn't study): 740 CR, 660 M, 720 W = 2120
Junior year (after some practie tests): 800 CR, 760 M, 710 W = 2270

I went up 200 total points from my october psat to january sat, and that's with a decrease in math. So if all goes as it should (I know it doesnt always) I'll be looking at a 250-300 point increase from october to march and since you're encompasing a longer time period it's absolutely possible.

I took in junior year
1st: 2150
2nd: 2250

and my psat was a 209

I know a high school student who got 1800 in May 2006 (grad 11). In October 2006, she took SAT I again and got 2130 (grad 12). Actually she had a part time job and a volunteer work from May to Oct. 2006. She also did well for her school courses (average over 90%). In addition, she participated in national chess competition and got prize during this time frame. So, I encourage you: it is possible!

Thanx you guys!! You are really encouraging. I was thinking of taking the SAT Subject Test this June and the SAT reasoning test next October. Should I do the opposite?

I took the Reasoning Test before taking the Subject Tests, but it really depends on what you feel the most ready for.

Why not take the subject tests this May? Yeah, it is one less month of prep time, but you still have a good two months to prepare and taking them in May and the SAT I in June would leave your options more open for later.
