Five students from my school, including me, were recently suspended for "consuming alcohol" at a leadership conference. How will this affect our admissions to Georgetown? Will it be a big deal?

the school principal said that since none of us have a pattern of behavorial issues it won't affect our admissions decisions.

I am very well qualified otherwise, great stats, excellent ECs.

Any info would be great. Thanks.

Will it go on the transcript? Can it get expunged from the transcript?

If not, you basically have to just include some sort of explanation of what happened and why. As was said in another thread, I doubt the adcom is going to care a whole deal about an issue with alcohol if you are a compelling candidate and explain how it was an honest mistake or whatever.

If you were going to get admitted to Georgetown without that on your transcript, I'm fairly certain you would with it. If it were plagiarism or something else it'd be a different story...

the suspension won't be on the transcript, but its also not going to be expunged. we appealed but were ruled against and the suspension is going to be upheld (the letter came in today).

If it's not on the transcript you can probably get away with not reporting it to Georgetown then, unless the school will notify Georgetown.

It is slightly dishonest, however, for an alcohol violation I don't think it's a huge deal if you let it slide then, unofficially. Officially, Georgetown would like to see you report it, but you should talk this over with your guidance/college counselor. I believe there's a discussion of this on CC somewhere in the dean's questions or whatever it's called.

If you were suspended in high school you are supposed to report it on your application. They ask specifically.
