I want to go to Penn state for Meterology. I know not many admissions are for Meterology and more towards Engineering. My GPA is weighted at a 3.66, but I got a 3.7 Softmore year and a 3.9 Junior year. Would either my GPA per year or specific major increase my chances with my GPA on the lower end?
I’ve heard they don’t really look at trends, so I’m not sure if that will help you much.
However, applying for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences should be less competitive than for Smeal or the College of Engineering, so that is a plus.
What’s your SAT /act score?
Have you taken physics? Any science AP?
Haven’t taken SAT/ACT yet. I have taken Earth Science, Honors Bio. I am taking Honors Chem and AP Environmental right now as well as computer math. I would take Physics senior year as well as AP computer math
Err, what do you call “computer math”?
You’ll need a minimum of algebra 1+2, geometry, precalculus (honors) and if possible a form of calculus.
As for science, you’re good.
Ow well computer math is coding. I have taken Algbra 1, Geometry, and Algbra 2. I will obly graduate with Pre Calculous.
Does your school offer Precalculus Honors? Will you be eligible for that?
I don’t think they have that
Check with your guidance counselor.
Would you be allowed to take dual enrollment Precalculus and Calculus (one semester each) to increase math rigor?
(Assaid previously, your plan for science is optimal!)
Alright I will. Thanks!!
