At my college, we have some pretty good options when it comes to our food choices, but as usual, some people get sick of the food after a while, depending on their diet, including me at times.
My D has been very happy with the variety at Purdue. Besides the dining courts, the restaurants alternate accepting meal swipes, and the university brings food trucks to campus regularly (again, for meal swipes).
Cornell has great food as well.
Bowdoin’s food is fresh and yummy and they mix it up quite a bit even though there are only two dining halls. Fresh, local ingredients, always veggie and gluten free options, and really great brunches on Sat and Sun with someone making personal omelettes and tons of other options. They also re-open one of the dining halls late (from 10:30-1:00 a.m. I think for Thurs-Sat) so the kids pile back in for late night munchies which includes anything left over from dinner as well as things like nachos, sandwiches, cookies, etc. It’s very popular for kids to go to these “after hours”.
D21 is definitely wary of bad food in college and wants good options. I like the idea of swipes and not ala cart dining. We will definitely be checking out the dining halls when she goes on college visits. Good food has been important to S19 and he sends up photos of his food at least a couple of times per week to show me that the food there is probably better than what I cook at home!
