Howard BS/MD 2014

I just called the preprofessional education @howard and they said interview results will be out by next Friday.
So, @uclear how did u get the results so fast?

@CaCo928 Next Friday as in 23rd or 30th?

23rd

Has anyone else heard? I heard one other who got in, a girl. Maybe the letters are going out in waves?

I have been accepted to the program. I received my letter on May 19th

@omhs23 when was your interview? May 2nd or 9th?
We are still waiting, no word yet.

@omhs23‌ do you know anyone who has been in the program? I still am trying to find the insider view of work load, summer demands, etc.

@CaCo928 my interview was May 2nd

@unclear my sister did the program and she just finished her 2nd year of med school. she said the work load was fine and she took 2 summer classes, swimming and physics

@omhs23‌ thanks for the response. Would you mind sharing whether your sister got to do any research, internships or shadowing (while in the program)? Also are BS/MD kids roomed together or near each other? If you feel like you can fit it in can you do something like intramurals or clubs or does the preprofessional dept frown upon it? I appreciate any help you can give. Oh…are you accepting the offer?

Does anyone know how many applied, how many are accepted and usually how many enter?

@unclear she did get to do research and other volunteer work. they are not roomed together. she said they probably dont even have classes together. you can join clubs and i dont know about intramurals, but the workload for the first 2 years in manageable so I’m sure you’ll have time to join whatever you want. I have accepted the offer.

@omhs23‌ again thanks to you and your sister for the information. I’ve heard bs/MD students are not in the honors program so maybe that helps with the workload (all non honors classes). I wonder how many of us there will be? Congrats to you on being decisive and accepting already.
@rlpak14‌ started this thread, so I hope it worked out for you.

@unclear your welcome! I guess we will find out at orientation! Does anyone know when we pick classes?

@omhs23‌ I heard we pick classes at the summer orientations. I guess the preprof people will let us know what we need to sign up for. HU is notorious for registration and financial aid chaos though!

Hi @unclear‌ @omhs23‌

I also received my letter on 19th May and have confirmed my acceptance.
Btw, how did you send the confirmation - email or letter?

@med2serve I sent it in the mail.

Better send mine asap. I was waffling but really decided that the benefits outweigh the concerns I am having. I was just going to email the pre-professional department.

Any idea how many attended for interviews on may 2, 7, 14th? Also the follks who got it can you pls identify the state and also gpa and sat scores. That might help future applicants.

@CASTU437 I know on May 2nd they said there was an interview every half hour, so 2 per hour for the entire time they allotted. I am from MD. GPA unweighted 4.0. cumulative weighted 4.56. SAT 2190

@CASTU437 33 ACT, from east coast (not sure geographic diversity is relevant at HU Med), 4.78 weighted GPA (not sure of unweighted). Did not submit my SAT (ACT was stronger).
I hope we have a pretty good, supportive group and all make it through!
