How's the quality of the rooms? How big are the singles? The doubles? Do they come with the standard bookcase, closet, dresser, desk, etc.? Is there A/C? How are the study lounges, communal bathrooms, etc.? Are there a lot of people who are interesting, approachable, etc. living there?

I've heard EQ isn't the most fancy or gorgeous dorm on campus but if I room there, I can have a single, and so I'm trying to figure out whether the quality is so bad that it wouldn't be worth having my own room. I know it's a little bit run-down but I found it kinda charming. And even though I've heard terrible things about the dining there, I could eat at any dining hall.

So basically, anybody have any first-hand advice about living at EQ? Other than people who stayed there one night for Orientation. I'm really looking for people who spent a whole year there and who have some good experience!

Thanks!

Well, orientation was held in East Quad and even though it would not be my favorite choice, it’s not horrible by any means. The rooms are actually pretty big as well. At my orientation I stayed in a double which they made into a triple and we still could have fit a couch or something as large in there. Singles are a little more cramped but not bad, though I would advise you to get a double so that you have a friend to expirience things with.

East Quad has an amazing location, good-sized double rooms, a good dining hall if you’re interested in vegetarian/vegan options, and great little study nooks (although TERRIBLE lighting). I lived there last year so if you have any specific questions let me know.

I liked east quad a lot when I lived there. I preferred living in newberry, where I lived my second year, but east quad has a great location, is a nice dorm, decent size rooms, nice people, and a good community. You’ll like it there.

Have some waffle fries at Ray’s Red Hots next door for me, they’re the best. :)

I was there for orientation. The dorm was very “dormy,” and by that I mean exactly what you’d expect a dorm to be. I hated the showers, really low which was a ***. No air conditioning (which doesn’t matter) but the location was amazing and there’s a dining hall that is okay quality. I wouldn’t mind living there.

The single room (where me and my orientation roommate stayed) was very small, but cozy at the same time.

I dunno about anything else, but not a fan of the East Quad dining hall. I went there couple of times when I was a freshman, and there just wasn’t a diverse (or tasty) selection.

East Quad just got $116 million for renovation!
