How's My Essay Looking?

Quote: Some people say objects can't make one happy, but since they can make one comfortable, they can make you happy for a period of time

Prompt: Can material objects make one truly happy

Response:
Into: BS spiraling intro haha we all do it
Thesis-Objects can't make someone truly happy

B1- Jay Gatsby had a lot of objects; wanted the love of Daisy; couldn't get it; wasn't happy

B2- Made up a story about how Cortes (explorer) visited a small island were the native didn't have many possessions but were overwhelmingly happy because they appreciated the beauty of the world around them (I presented this as a factual story, not hypothetical)

B3- Kids ask their parents for certain things leading up to Christmas; kids get what they want; lose interest within a couple of weeks; cycle repeats every year; they aren't truly happy

Conclusion- Inserted the opinion of the person quoted above the prompt; disagreed with this point of view; true happiness can only be achieved by stepping back and appreciating life (or some BS along those lines haha)

Also managed to squeeze in some nice vocab words, and had enough time to make sure my sentence structure was flawless.

Looks good! I used Gatsby as one my examples too and then Scrooge from A Christmas Carol as my second. I didn’t get to finish my conclusion and I only had two examples so I’m pretty bummed about my essay :frowning: It’s a shame because this is one of the easiest essay prompts ever

I used Andrew Carniege, Steve Jobs, and Macbeth. My Steve Jobs example was pretty bad :/

How would mine be:
I used Edna Pontellier from the Awakening, Rose from Titanic, and Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye.

Dmoney - you seem to ahve this down. I’m surprised though that your 3rd example wan’t better. Explanation please . . .
