This might be really shallow, but food's really important to me.. :(
I know that Houston is an international city with amazing culinary diversity, but is it cheap? And how's the campus food?

Ha, Houston has one of the cheapest, most diverse culinary scenes I’ve seen. There’s an entire three-block stretch in neartown that is full of cheap Vietnamese restaurants.

On-campus food is pretty good, as far as on-campus food goes, I guess.

Especially now that they’re selling off valuable assets so that students can make crepes!

Here’s a link to a recent article about Houston’s restaurants: [Houston: one of the great unsung restaurant cities | Houston Restaurants | 29-95.com](http://www.29-95.com/restaurants/story/houston-one-great-unsung-restaurant-cities?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+houstonchronicle%2Fcookstour+(Cook’s+Tour)&utm_content=Google+Reader)

And yes, this city has an unbelievable array of restaurants in all price ranges, especially on the modest side. It’s an incredibly multicultural city and the restaurants reflect that.

On campus food is decent. It is unlimited, which is a plus and there is some variety. I am a vegetarian and I was rarely without a decent option to eat. Other than that, there is Salento in the pavillion, which has great sandwiches, 13th street in the Student center which is like Subway, Sammy’s cafe which is like a glorified cafeteria and a few other options like Willy’s pub where you can get prepacked Quiznos and stuff.

The Houston food scene has been covered by the posters above. Walking down Westheimer is a lot of fun as you can see and try new restaurants you pass by. Chinatown is amazing and cheap as well (although you need a car to get there). The food right by campus in walking distance is in the village. There is some cheap stuff, but on average the food there is on the pricier side

On campus food is alright, but nothing to really write home about. There is variety, it is reasonably tasty, and it’s all you can eat. Then for off-campus dining there is the whole city of Houston, which is fantastic.
