Hi,
I’ve been reading about WashU and have been interested in doing research. I do have one question, however, as the title reads. How is the weather down there through the year? Being in Tornado Alley, how bad does it really get at that part of the year near campus?
Thank you in advance.
The midwest, specifically the St.Louis area is about 10 degrees warmer than Chicago throughout the year. It’s incredibly humid in the summer months as well. Fall/Spring are lovely/fair. Winter is mild (30’s -40’s) with relatively little snow compared to a Great Lakes state. In terms of tornadoes, it’s always part of life in the Midwest. But I don’t believe WUSTL has been hit with any tornadoes recently.
In my 4 years at Wash U, the winters were bad. One year it never really arrived, but the other three winters were long-lasting and VERY cold. It got into the single digits several times, and I mean during the day.
But arent the springs nice, though? @RaVNzCRoFT
Sure, but you’re lucky if they start by mid-March and you leave in early May anyway…
