It took me 5 hrs of picking classes to get the classes all together so that I can work (pay for college). Ill see how it goes in a week.

well, I will call BS on the average Columbia student sleeping 2 hours a night consistently.

I would also bet a lot of money that most of them don't eat dinner at 9pm either. Or that they get up at 5.

try again.

What would I "try again"?

factor in roaming the internet for a couple hours a day, random meetings, and i stay pretty busy. but i like it. alot of my "busy" time is actually working out (w/ friends), hanging out, watching movies, whatever you want. i doubt Columbia is as bad as your cousin makes it sound, but i don't go there. just a hunch.

Who gets up for class at 5 AM? Athletes with morning practices, sure. But for classes? No way.

Why are you assuming that the first thing people do when they get up is going to class?

I'm sure when they get up at 5am, they do not go immediately to class. They'd most likely go down to nearby cafe (which opens as early as 6am or earlier) to have some coffee and some biscotti while doing their reading/studying. OR whatever. Do some early morning jogging? It's their choice, but don't make it sound as if getting up at 5am is an impossibility for students, because unless people are totally unoccupied with schoolwork, students (especially those who attend Ivy) are just constantly studying.

HAHA charizard that's funny. u realize that some of what i put under thursday to sunday is actually from a monty python. urs is funnier.

I usually do my work two days before that particular class (so I have everything done for the week by Tuesday/Wednesday. It rocks.)

we either go out friday or saturday, and then the other day we do something beverage-free (movies or whatever).
Saturday

No, they aren't.

If they go to bed at 3, it is definitely an impossibility. To do one day? Maybe. But you just posted a schedule that says Columbia students sleep 2 hours a day. That is not true. I am 100% positive.

Well then I must have some friends and cousin who just happens to be gifted with extraordinary power.

I've heard tons of stories of people who went to bed late at night and got up really early in the morning to do a lil extra bit of studying. And they catch up with their sleep over the weekend. And I don't mean sleeping 5 or 10 hours straight. I'm talking about going to bed on Saturday Morning and not getting up till Sunday Noon. This is not uncommon for college students. Is it easy? No. Is it possible? Definitely.

I could last one hour of sleep and catch up over the weekend. 1-2 hour nap if I have to (better than all nighter)...actually I sleep about 4-5 hours a night. Don't forget some people are insomniacs too. Like me I could go to bed at 3 or 4 and get up at 7:30 for class still looking energized. I'm not kidding. Even my roomate ask me how in the world I can do this.

I'm not sure that anyone thinks it's literally impossible - when I was in architecture, we called it "hell week" - but that does not mean that it is done every single week throughout the entire year. And if you are doing that, it's not because you just really have that much homework, it's because you have some time management issues. I had a friend at an Ivy and one day she would claim to always be studying, and the next day she would tell me about how she and her boyfriend loaf around for 2-3 hours every evening watching tv.

Assuming you really do follow the schedule in the OP, that still works out to an average of over 8 hours per day, meaning that you could just sleep from 1am-9am or something every single day instead, and still have the same amount of awake time. Absolutely no reason to get 2 hours of sleep during the week and over 48 on the weekends except for poor time management.
