HS Class of 2013: To What Colleges Are You Applying/Thinking of Applying?

Also, how many colleges would you recommend applying to?

I’m applying to:

NYU
USC
Emerson
UChicago
North Carolina’s School of the Arts

You should have one or two “reach schools”, two/three matches, and then maybe one or two safeties… or so I think, anyway.

Right now I will apply (for sure) to Michigan State and the University of Michigan. I’m iffy on Northwestern, and I’m leaning towards applying to Rice. I also like Brown but I’m not sure if I should apply there.

What are the differences amongst those terms you list, clemxens? Many people at my school use them as well but I can’t seem to understand what exactly is a “safety,” “reach,” or “match” for me.

I will be applying to…

Penn, UVA, UNC, Richmond, Wake Forest, Cornell, Georgetown, WUSTL, Villanova, Lehigh, Michigan, Emory, and safeties that I haven’t figured out yet.

I haven’t made my list yet; I feel so behind. I plan on making a list over spring break. I’ll be visiting some colleges in New England and I’ll have my SAT scores by then.

I know for sure I’ll apply to:

Florida State
Purdue
University of Oklahoma
Penn State

Still trying to get some more schools on my list, just need to do so cutting down on my final list.

I will for sure apply to these:

UVA, VT, UNC, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Purdue, UIUC, and Cornell

Then a few others as well as safeties

Harvard SCEA, Georgetown, Brown, Dartmouth, Northwestern, UCB, UCLA, UCSB, Stanford, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Northeastern, Drexel, UPitt.

Umm yeah. 15 is sorta a lot but oh well I’m gonna start apps in the summer.

Safety- a school you will definitely get into. You would be well above the average gpa and sat

Match- you are around the average gpa and sat, have a pretty good chance of getting in but it’s definitely not certain.

Reach- a school that your stats are below, or a school that has such a low admit rate that even those with top scores are not guaranteed admittance (ivy’s, etc.)

Stanford, Harvard, Duke CAS, UNC-CH, UMich, UIUC, Berkeley, UCLA, Brown, Columbia, NYU Stern, Penn CAS, Cornell CAS, Cooper Union, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton, Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College London, WUSTL, UChicago, Rice, McGill, U of T, Waterloo, and maybe MIT.

Yeah. #TeamAmbition

My D will apply to Duke, UMiami, UAlabama, USouth Carolina, FSU, Rollins, College of Charleston, UNCW, TAMUG, Boston U

MIT EA<3

Also: BC, Georgetown, UChicago, Binghamton, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Fordham and Notre Dame.

Maybe a couple of Ivies…

Thank you for the information, Leah.

Wow, it seems most on here have 10+ colleges in mind, many of which being ivy league.

Oh! I forgot to answer your question… My GC said at the most you should apply to 8 and that 5-6 is a good number, but I feel like that’s so little. ^.^

Personally I think you should have 1 or 2 safeties, 2-3 matches and as many reaches as you want, but NOT over 8… Unless you split them up between EA and RD.

I think a person should apply to as many colleges as he or she feels.
I plan on applying to: Barnard College (ED), NYU, Eugene Lang College @ New School University, Emerson College, Quinnipiac University, UCONN, St. John’s University, Marymount Manhattan College, and Pace University.
I just want senior year to come already so I can get this whole admissions thing done!

UNC, Wake Forest, Davidson?

Honestly idk…so far

Lots of regional schools
JHU

Michigan, Purdue, George Washington Univeristy ED, and NYU-Poly for sure. Plus a few more and safeties.

University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Oklahoma State University, Duke, UChicago, Wake Forest, Vanderbuilt, Notre Dame, University of Arkansas, and a few others.

UNC, Wake Forest, Washington and Lee, Furman, Sewanee, UVA, and Clemson

UW Seattle, Rice, Harvey Mudd all for sure.
Not too sure about the rest.
