I got a 640 in english and a 520 in math. It is partially due to a learning disability( slower at math), but there are so many great colleges i could get into with a better math grade. I am retaking it in December, but if it doesnt improve, could i still get into, lets say syracuse? (their requirements are english- 540-650 math- 570-680)
My gpa is 87.6

it is frustrating because I am at the top of the english range for syracuse but i dont even make it in the math!! I am including a small essay explaining my disability btw IF they read it. I have to say though, my regular college essay is really good.

what do you guys think? do i have a shot at syracuse? is this a reach?

is there any more information i could provide you guys so you'll answer my questions??

lol sorry im a little impatient

First off, they are not requirements, but rather "ranges". If you fall below the ranges you still have a chance, albeit not as large a one if both scores were in those ranges. Secondly, I wouldn't worry about the large disparity between scores, it's that way for almost every applicant, I have 150 point difference between CR and Math. Occasionally you come across an applicant who's equally good at all of the subjects, but by and large students find themselves better at one or the other.

If your disability is genuine, then I don't see any reason why Syracuse wouldn't understand.

Have you signed up for the next SAT test? I took the ACT and my math went up a lot after I used the practice. I think it will help on the SAT too.

Thankyou for your response simpson98 (my favorite tv show btw!!)

Im just worried that the math is going ruin my chances of getting into a great college... at least my instate schools because every1 is applying there now cause of the financial crisis thats going on

I was hoping that if i apply to some private schools that may be otherwise harder to get into i might get in. i hope i do better in December, im working hard at it!

and yeah i am signed up for the dec test. Unfortunately it was a very of the moment thing(i signed up last minute i mean) and now only have two weeks to improve my scores (on top of sending my aps!)

the stress of being a senior!!!

I am studying for 3 subject area tests and filling out 10 applications! Glad it's Thanksgiving! It took me maybe 4 afternoons to finish the practice book. Don't give up man, you can make it if you try!

thankyou:) im so far doing 7.. then probably another 7 this week!

For syracuse, would i need a 600 in math to be more competitive?
