Which is particularly odd because it dropped only after I sent in my acceptance and deposit -- has this happened to anyone else?

I received a paper notifying me of a $54,000 grant and a $2,000 work study opportunity with my acceptance letter and other information, and today I received a letter telling me that the grant is now only for $51,000, with the same $2,000 in work study.

Edit: Ok, so I found the original "Financial Aid Award Notice" and the only respects in which it is different from the most recent one are the "Vanderbilt Need-Based Grant" amount and the "Account Number" found at the bottom of the page -- or rather not the account number itself, but the number that follows directly after it; on the first document it is a one and on the second it is a 2.

The only thing that I can imagine that might account for this change is my "submission" of vanderbilt to the NM corporation as my top choice, but I was under the impression that this only went towards eliminating "Academic Year Earnings Expectation," an item which is still present on the newer form. Furthermore, no mention of the NMF scholarship is to be found on the newer form, either.
