Human Ecology for Premed?

Hey,

I know that the majority of the pre-meds at cornell are at the CAS school, but i was wondering if you could follow a pre-med track at its Human Ecology School. Would being at the Human Ecology School be detrimental during applying to Med/Dental schools?

Thanks

I know someone from here whose kid is in med school right now, out of Hum Ec.

you mean the college of arts and premeds?

im one too lol.

you’d probably be in the human bio health and society major. although you dont have to be. in HBHS you’d be doing bio but also social science courses such related to the societal impact of modern science and medicine. its not a bad major if ur not afraid to mix natural and social science. its also, in terms of stats, somewhat easier to get into

I know a lot of people who were in HumEc and were accepted to medical school.

Medical schools don’t care what specific college you are in. In terms of academics they want to see that you did well in your pre-med reqs as well as upper division science courses. Many schools also want to see that applicants took a variety of courses in the humanities and social sciences.
