Can anyone tell me about this school because I am intersted in applying. Are there core requirements for math/natural sciences? How common is double majoring? how are the classes? the professors? Thanks in advance!

I can't speak for all majors but all my Econ friends love the curriculum and most of their professors (Klepper, Goldburg, etc.) The Tepper/Econ curriculums overlap quite a bit now so I think I'm qualified to say how efficient (with respect to education and postgrad jobs) Carnegie Mellon is with these two majors.

Double majoring is very popular and I would say it is only surpassed in the Top 25 Universities by Rice. Doubling is easy and encouraged (the whole curriculum of the entire university encourages dabbling in other fields such as CS majors having to take a minor and Drama kids having to take classes in other schools).

I think the only "core" is that you have to take one science class (there are easy ones as well as hard ones). You can even take them abroad or off campus or during the summer. Math is a bit different depending on your major. I haven't seen a single creative writing major in my math classes but Econ kids have to take up to Multivariable.

Thanks for your post :).
