Hype

it seems like everyone is getting a little paranoid about acceptance rates...saying that this will be one of the most selective years for transferring and such...is this normal anxiety that happens each year before decisions are released? or can competitive applicants that applied to most of the ivies and top schools really expect to get rejections from all of these schools?

I thought it might be hype for Brown, until I e-mailed one of their admissions officers who confirmed the figure of 60 spots for 1200 applicants.

what about for other schools? like Penn? is it true that it will be harder this year bc of 20% more applicants?

bump.............

i dunno if it's more competitve this year than last year (although for penn especially the avg gpa and sat scores for FRESHMAN admits have gone up since last year, which i believe is a recurring trend)

however, application at penn would still be incredibly competitive even if it was the same as last year. i mean they got around 1600 applicants for 200 spaces... i mean consider that with berkeley where they have 3000 spots, and albeit ~10,000 applicants.

i believe getting accepted to any one of those schools is quite an achievement in its own right

most private schools don't have a lot of spots for transfer students (penn is on the relatively high side for ivy league schools)
