And what makes you think I'm "angry", are the characters on screen yelling at you? Do they have mean little faces? Or did you jump to this conclusion in the same oh-so brilliant way you jumped to all your other silly conclusions?

lmao!!!
funny!!

but the point of AA is to make up for past inequalities. so the equations should look like
x+200 years of slavery+100 years of segregation=2x=supposed equality.

now, in light of my above comment i realize that AA is a flawed system (as evidenced by this post).

All your doing is saying my points are bad. Some arguement there.

we have had things such as the chinese exclusion act, yet asians are given the raw end of the deal in admissions.

They aren't bad. Just stupid. Very.

And people have argued your posts, a lot of people have. So yes, argument. There's are better than yours. Get over it.

Thats because asians aren't considered to be URMs... genius.
That's like saying whites had the salem witch trials, and they're getting the raw end of the deal too.
They arn't URM's.

URM's, just the name suggests equality.

It's 10 till midnight and I have to wake up at 5:30. If you post something else, I'll respond in the morning. Good nigh.

the asians were also subjected to terrible railroad conditions, internment camps, etc. but you can't blame african-americans for their lack of favor in terms of AA. that has to be taken up with those who control this country (such as your beloved GW Bush).

You would think this would be obvious to her... but i guess not.

It's the government who controls AA.
The government is MAJORITY white.
Obviously, they have little problem with it.
Instead whining to blacks and telling them to change it, and saying, as she did in her earlier posts that blacks LITERALLY asked for AA, she should take it up with her government.

I know. People always blame the races who are being affected as if they have any control over it. These races are just being affected like we are. the people who control it are the government.

The only people who should ****ed of AA are the slackers. If your GPA, SAT, ECS are good enough to get in, and you're worried about competing with some AA then maybe you should have worked harder and got the best scores.

Amazingly, millions of students, white students get into colleges every year, yet everyone seems to think that AA automatically means they won't get in.
What a condundrum.

the salem witch trials were not racially motivated, the chinese exclusion act was.

You know this discriminatory law essentially tried to bar chinese laborors, working class people....essentially everyone who wasn't an elite. I am guessing that the elites were more educated and were allowed to enter the country...I always wondered whether this would play a factor into how later generations would regard education. It might be an interesting topic to write about: selective immigration and its effects on education. Still, they would probably face discrimination like other posters have said.

I also have to agree with hotpiece, Jesminder, Prepstad...too many people come up to me *****ing about AA. Like I can change it??? Blacks aren't the ones who put it into place...so go whine elsewhere. Also, I hardly think whites or asians are going to go extinct in colleges and universities...they are still prevelant according to what I am seeing.

haha ultimately, motivation for exclusion comes down to money, even in the chinese exclusion case. meh...love how this thread has turned into "come on. i spit in your face. dare spit in mine?"

Little tough to use URM status if you aren't quite. However, kids who are legacies (uh, both the current president and his last opponent for example), kids who have famous parents, kids whose parents endowed a chair all use their "hook" when the opportunity presents itself. That, unfortunately, is the way the system works, and I don't think any one should hold it against Iamblack to try the game the system a bit.

[/quote]

Great point!
Few people complain when legacies, and famous people get in because of who they are and who they know.
On UCLA there's this huge page dedicated to the girl who played Blossom because she went to that school.

This is ridiculous...I am looking at the number of pages. This shouldn't have turned into a 9 page thread. The troll did his job...

I am out...

is the OP handskillz? i remember reading similar threads like this one about a black male

i think handskillz got into numerous debates about AA, but i don't think this is him...

although i unfortunately know some people like the op, i really do not think this is a real post. come on, his username is "iamblack" and everything is clearly written to get people mad.

I just thought the title of this thread was hilarious so I am definitely posting a comment. I literally laughed outloud.
For those people who don't think discrimination exists or think that it only exists in the deep south, you really have been living with blinders on. I live in one of the most diverse and accepting cities in America and I remember experiencing discrimination from the age of three on. Furthermore, I am biracial and live with my white mother. My own grandparents would not accept me as part of the family because of my race and disowned my mother; they are from New England. Discrimination still exists kiddos. If I have experienced discrimination in my city and in the parochial schools I have attended, how bad is it in the south or the midwest? I had to comfort my friend who didn't get into a highly ranked school and he told me that they had to let the poor minorities in before they could let him, the obviously more "qualified" candidate, in.
Now I do agree that the original poster is obviously exploiting the system. But until there is a better alternative, it's the burden our society has to bear.
