I am officially fat!

I hate exercising!!! The best way to be active is find ANYTHING that involves moving and do it.

The best advice I ever heard was to find ways to incorporate activity into your life. Like, take the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator, walk to the store if you need something instead of driving, offer to walk your dog, stuff like that. Then it won't feel like exercising.

Diets have never worked for me...every time I've lost weight its because I just start eating better, period. If you concentrate on food and deprive yourself of one M&M, you'll never succeed. Just eat everything in moderation and think about how good and clean you feel when you put HEALTHY foods into your body. Honestly, every time I want McDonalds, I just think about how disgusting I feel after I eat it.

^ Same here about the McDonald's thing. I think of fat ending up on my hips every time I think of a fastfood restaurant.
Even though I can only eat like a salad at McD's.
`

you can spend a ton of time posting here ( > 1k posts ) and studying for all your SATs and stuff but you dont have time to exercise?

Precisely. Somehow, time is warped in favor of the former.

Just out of curiosity, do you drink sugared beverages like Mountain Dew or Regular Coke? If so, those beverages really rack up the calories. While dieting, settle for water or diet drink. Sugared beverages are delicious indeed, but truly can cause one to become adipose!

Good luck to you!

BMI doesn't necessarily mean you're fat. It doesn't really calculate muscle into the formula. Of course most people on this website aren't going to be bulky with muscle.

For example, The Rock weighs around 225lbs at 6'4"...it says he's overweight, which he's not.

Amen to the sugar thing---they did a study, and the average amount of weight someone who regularly drinks sugared drinks gains per year is 20 pounds!!! Just cut it out of your diet COMPLETELY. Since most drinks come in diet now, it is the easiest way you can make a huge dent in your weight.

Or just drink water. It boosts your metabolism, you can get it right from your sink (if it's clean in your area), and there aren't any weird chemicals like there are in diet sodas.

Yeah, but if you can't see yourself getting rid of soda all together, diet drinks are better than sugared. Of course water, milk, and REAL juice are always the best option. Make sure not to drink juice that has tons of sugar in it, though. You have to look carefully at the label. If the ingredients say "high fructose corn syrup," then its just as bad as soda.

there is a way to watch tv and burn calories! lol i would know...
put a treadmill or bike machine in front of your tv. then do pushups/situps while the comercials are on. im 130-135ish and 5'4" so my bmi is around 22.5 but i have super muscular legs from dance and soccer lol

I'm fat too. I weigh like 180-185 and I'm 6'1. :(

There was a study done on deit soft drinks that proved that people who drank deit coke or pepsi or sprite or whatever are more likely to get alzhimers than other people..it proved to have a negitive effoct on people's memory. Maybe I'll just drink water...

I wouldn't buy into that Stuck...gimme a break. Think of all the people who drink diet soda but DON'T get Alzheimers. Every study I've seen on Alzheimer's says there is a genetic component to the disease. My guess is that all the people who drank soda and got Alzheimer's were genetically predisposed in the first place.

maybe, they never mentioned stuff like that. But I did notice that my dad (who drinks diet alot) started to have trouble remembering stuff..but when he stopped drinking it, he became much better at remembering stuff.
PS: Alzhimers doen't run in our family. Heart disease, Diabetes and Hypertension do.

"trouble remembering stuff"

Comrade, that is what we call "old age".

Alzheimers aka Old timers. Say it aloud. =]

Uhm, you guys are really blowing the weight issue out of proportion. Most people who think they're fat aren't "fat" at all - maybe you're a tidge on the pudgy side, but it's not a health issue. For example, I'm 115 pounds and 5'2", and I call my self flabby, but obviously...it's nothing to worry about.

That said, America IS kind of unfit. Really unfit. I think 1/3 of the population is overweight.

OP - heres my advice...

STOP EATING SO MANY NOODLES!!!

jk ;);););)

I actually find running to do the trick with me, but I have never been overweight.

Do you play any sports? If so, get involved more.

BTW running on a treadmill is really boring... I prefer running outside, you can look around and stuff, but then again I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't have to worry about people seeing me.

doarkface was right with the self critical thing... Basically the hardest person to please is yourself, so just make yourself happy!

okay, my dad is a little old (50 last month) but I don't see how he could naturally have trouble remembering stuff...but whatever.
I used to play basketball but I haven't played in quite a while..there hasn't been much time to do that. I am not looking forward to runnimg outside becasue A) there is no space to move around becasue it's so crowded and B) it is not uncommon for people to make fun of people they see running in the street. It's no big deal and I know that the people doing the laughing are *******s but I wouldn't like to be the centre of someone else's joke. Anyway, I think I'll stick to the tredmill and think of ways to make it less boring lol

Okay... for the whole soda thing...

My stepdad only drinks diet soda (usually coke or pepsi). He drinks a lot... probably like 6 a day. He has diabetes and can only drink the diet.

He can remember things fine, granted he isn't 50 (only 43)!!!!!!
