Fat

I just called fat, fatter than a pregnant woman, your "fat exceeds your 'milk providing things'" (almost exact wording even the milk part) by my mom when I actually am in the "ideal weight" of my height and my stomach is NOT exceeding the limits of non-obese.

Aggggg! Way to lessen my self-esteem mom!
/rant

So, now I finished my mini-rant, how do you respond to being called fat or anything else?

I avoid it…and don’t care if anyone says it. LoL. I know what I may be, and don’t need people to point it out for me.

Speaking of fat, how can I lose stomach fat?

I weight ~150, am 16, and can’t run a mile under 10 minutes. lol. and most of the fat seems to concentrate my stomach. Elsewhere I look fine. I’ve been told that my stress mainly contributes to my fat collection (I prepared for 10 APs this year while maintaining all A in school) but I think that’s a bit beyond my control. Any advice? I would love to lose fat and get back to ~130 pounds again. Also, what should I and should not eat? Another problem is that I’m really picky and I can’t seem to like the “weight-losing” foods.

You can’t lose fat around a certain area of your body contrary to popular belief. You have to slim down all around (and perhaps your stomach will disappear the quickest). How tall are you?

You could try stimulating your metabolism and have 6 small meals a day instead of 2-3. Definitely do not skimp out on breakfast. Don’t eat packaged food that often (like chips, rice krispies). Cut down on portion sizes.

Exercise :] You probably want to get that mile time under 9-10 minutes.

My mom calls me fat when I do not run 3-4 miles a day. I deal with it :b I know it is not true…soo…no worries:]

I’m not fat but I have gained a lot of weight since I started high school. :frowning: So whenever my parent calls me fat I just say “yeah I know” and then feel sorry for myself for the next couple of minutes because I know it’s true.

next time you could say…u fatter than Madea…lol idk…haha.

but just ignore what your mom says though…especially since you don’t want to disrespect your mom. If it really bothers you just ask her to nicely to stop calling you that. If you know you aren’t then don’t worry about it  have some confidence! (:

luckily, my mom rarely criticizes my appearance…with the exception of my hair since it can get really BIG & crazy at times LOL…and then she tells me i’m better off covering it hahaha…but she does call make fat jokes to my older sister (who’s 25) …considering that she’s overweight :[

I get called fat because I eat a lot but I’m borderline underweight.

I just checked, and I am overweight by .1 BMI… Lame.

that’s okay. my mom called me fat too. actually a few members of my family called me fat. including those relatives that you see only like… once a year. one of them actually grabbed my stomach.

ironically im pretty petite. but then again im not as skinny as my two sisters who look anorexic.

If it’s any consolation I don’t think I’ve known a single girl who wasn’t called fat by her mom, boys are called weak by there dads at some point also.

So just shrug it off, if you’re parents never insult you they probably don’t know you exist. My grandma would call my nephew a joto (■■■ in spanish), that’s freakin’ love and attention there.

Exercise. It’s not that hard, or at least to try it isn’t.

@fairy dreams: I am about 6 feet tall. My stomach just has a disproportional amount of fat compared to the rest of my body. I envy guys who has a flat or a near flat stomach. T_T

Do ab workouts, not that hard.

^ I heard that doing crunches/ab workouts does not actually lose you stomach fat.

Depends on what you do.

Well it definitely makes them tighter. Doesn’t really make you lose fat though.

How can one lose stomach fat then? I guess all those crunches and sit ups I do whenever I feel especially fat haven’t been helping then. :(

^^ What’s the difference between losing stomach fat and making it tighter? Are the results similar?

I have felt monstrously humongous for this entire week- I have not worked out once. So I did 50 laps in my pool today; now I feel a lot better.

Whenever I feel guilty for not working out enough I do crunches in front of the TV. Since those apparently don’t count for anything, I guess no more crunches for me.
