Do you have Naviance at your high school? It could give you a good idea of where you stand.
Also, what major/school did you apply to? I assume RD? Some are capacity controlled and fill up with EA applicants.
At my son’s HS, with your stats (act/sat are strong, but UW GPA is below the edge), you would likely Not be admitted (GPA is too low) unless you attend a very, very competitive high school and your class rank is in at least the top 25%.
Your EC’s are not strong enough, I think, to make up for your GPA. I hope I am wrong! Either way, you are still a very capable student and I am sure you will end up where you can love it and thrive! Maybe others have a more hopeful outlook for you! Again, I hope I am wrong!
Your SAT is fine but your GPA is low. Your ECs are good, not great. I think you’ll be given serious consideration, but mostly just because you’re in-state. I think you have an okay chance at getting in, but it could go either way. Your essays and recs better be strong.
@cypresspat i do have naviance and the i am in a total green area (the section of the ACT scores of 30 were all green above a 3.3 GPA). i applied to OSU and was wondering if i would simply have a chance at main campus.
It’s not low in comparison to everyone else, but for OSU it’s a little low. The average is 3.83, and OSU lists gpa as “very important” (aka most important) on their common data set. Around 60% of last year’s class was in the top tenth of their school, and 94% were in the top quarter.
I think you have a good chance to get into the main campus. My son goes to a very competitive private Ohio HS & looking at your stats compared to his school’s Naviance everyone got in. You may want to check OSU Admissions matrix for Who Gets In…they give ‘additional consideration’ for those that do well in Math, Science & Foreign Language “exceeding the minimum curriculum in these subjects are given additional consideration.”
Regarding Fisher, we attended their admissions tour and they stated anyone with a 3.0 GPA & 30 or above ACT would be a direct admit.
Good Luck!
