I am so lost :(

I'm not really looking for any suggestions of colleges... because I can't add any more to my long list. But I keep changing it around, adding some... taking some out, which gets me no where.

It's extremely stressful not knowing where I'll be applying when I need to start applications asap. It's also tough when I still haven't found that one school I'm in love with. I'm a passionate sailor and it just seems hard to find a school with a good sailing team. Lots of Ivy League schools have amazing teams, but my scores and grades aren't good enough to be applying there.

Any help? Words of advice?

I have a question about the University of Miami... this was basically my top choice, but so many people I talk to have been trying to discourage me from going there. They think it's a party school and that Florida is not a good place to go to school. What do you all think?

Miami has improved considerably over the old days of Suntan U. The President is a true academic leader and has turned the school around.

It seems like you DO want more colleges to add to your list--and get rid of the ones you won't be happy attending.
Have you seen Sailing World's list of colleges with great sailing teams?

barrons is right, UMiami has changed a great deal. My son is a Junior there and I'd be happy to answer any questions about the school. A lot of kids there are really bright and academics have become much more of a focus. The school has a lot of things going for it....great academics, nice weather, gorgeous campus, fun surrounding city, beaches, etc. You should definitely visit and make up your own mind.

What schools are currently on your list?

Also, you really are better off NOT have one school you have fallen in love with. Come up with a list of schools that you would be happy to attend and don't worry about falling in love with any one of them.

gettinin - Thanks for the list... I have actually used those rankings (from collegesailing.org) to help me look around for colleges. I also think you're right about changing around my possible schools.

gadad - I think my top choices as of now are...
Boston College (Varsity Sailing)
University of Miami (Club)
Tulane (Club)
Wake Forest (NO Sailing..eek)
Hobart and William Smith (Varsity)
College of Charleston (Varsity)
St. Mary's College of MD (Varsity)
USC (Varsity)
Vanderbilt (Club)
Emory (Club)
Rice (Club)
Villanova (Club)

Maybe I'm better off than I had originally thought, but I was freaking out a little bit yesterday :)
