Katecisco
Nobody talks much about money but you just saved yourself 10 grand a year plus it’s likely your fianancial aid was better at Pace too.
What was that country and western song about unanswered prayers? Frequently we look back and thank God that what we prayed for, or what we hoped for most, wasn’t given to us
because a change in direction led to unconsidered opportunities.

soozie: I understand the difference between accepted letters and people actually coming and am not trying to give false information - that would be silly :).

i didnt give an exact number because i didnt know it which is why i initially wrote 10-15% not just 10%. I do know that we accepted 34 people and I know we saw about 400 for MT alone, add another 10-15 for second tier/wait list and we’re talking approx 45-50 applicants which works out to be roughly 10-15% based on the actual number of applicants which like I said I am not sure of.

yeah-- i will be attending pace. i just have to see where i can whip up 14,430 for tuition so im trying to apply to as many scholarships as possible! Thanks everyone. I am not hard headed-- I will most definetly give Pace a chance, I was just stressing how I would still like to re apply to those other programs. In addition Pace was my 3rd choice, so its not like it was downnnnn on the list-- I was just depressed at first but I’m getting over it, I’m fine I will definetly give it a chance— overall, Ive realized that it doesnt matter what school I go to anyway, whats important is that I fullfill my dream of becoming an actress because in reality thats has been my dream longer versus NYU which I started to love last year. Thanks again everyonee, I’m looking fordward to this sunday’s pace preview weekend! – I really am, and after all “you gotta work with what you’ve got” --and if anyone knows of any great scholarships I’d appreciate those info’s as well.

This probably should go on the “Is tuition cost an issue for you?” thread, but since we started talking money… :)

I guess it’s all relative. We have to take out twice that amount in loans… EVERY year, if my d decides to go Pace and that’s with about a $20,000 Total Award, including Work/Study! It’s more than $18,000 over our EFC! I don’t know how much similar Universities cost, but from our perspective Pace is NOT cheap! The price tag alone might have to decide where D goes and that would be very sad. :(

katecisco- that is amazing the finaid they gave you, if your tuition is around $14000. isnt their tuition around 35-40000 with housing etc? congrats, they mustve wanted you :)

Bird, the tuition alone is OVER $30,000.

total cost, including rm & board, books etc. is approximately $49,000.
yeah…

wow! omg i had no idea it was that expensive, that is like almost the same as NYU! good luck with everything, sarasmom, but i know your D also has webster as an option, i’m trying to get finaid matters worked out for there, too. (sorry this should be on the other thread)

I cant complain regarding aid, they paid most of my tuition including dorms, they gave me all the money they could possibly give me…but then again my efc is 0, its the parent loan I cant accept —14,380 so I gotta come up with a way to pay that.
I applied for the ronald mcdonald/lowes/ scholarships, and some others I hope I get em!

and yeahh Pace is not cheap at all … including the 600 deposit I gotta make to them in cash by may 1st…so yeahh the training costs money lol (49000 --yeah thats right)

good luck with it all katecisco, i hope it works out!

i received a letter about a week ago telling me that i am on the waitlist for bfa MT
does anyone know what my chances are of getting in off of the waitlist?
do they usually accept people off of the waitlist (if so, how many)?

i only got accepted to one other program and it is not one that i particularly want to go to. i just want to do everything i can to try to get accpeted to Pace!

Your chances of getting off the waitlist depend on the accepted students decisions. I know that that answer is unsatisfying but to give a hard number would be inaccurate as it varies and is unpredictable. Also, if slots open up via transfer/someone leaves/goes on tour etc, then there may be more room. Other than that there is not much wiggle room until we know what the accepted applicants decide to do. I feel like most schools have sent out the majority of their acceptances so hopefully everyone will be making their decisions soon :)

If you don’t get off the waitlist, you should still go. I know someone who did not get off the waitlist for Pace but went there for the BA in theatre arts. Her first semester she reauditioned for the program and ended up being a BFA MT major for 2nd semester.

thanks for your responses hilary and jake!

is there anything i can do that might boost my chances of getting in & possibly move my name up on the waitlist? like sending videos of past performances etc. ??

Not really. We keep all of the audition files on hand with the comments as well as the paperwork and photo you handed in to us; we frequently revisit that paperwork as this season progresses so that we can figure out who to go to next - there isnt a literal order of how the wait list is - if a boy decides to not come, we will pull a boy from the waitlist that is similar to the one that decided to go elsewhere.

But like I said, it really depends on how many people decide to come.

ok thanks!
